We are seeking a Data Scientist to use his/her coding skills to manage and transform big data into meaningful information and customized solutions for our clients. For this critical role, the best person would be a current coding professional (Python, R, SQL, etc.) that loves to develop creative solutions and visualizations to effectively and efficiently solve problems.
This role combines strategic collaboration, advanced data analysis, and tool development to deliver robust, data-driven solutions. You will work alongside DVS leadership and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative tools and advanced reports that support our data analytics team and ultimately our health plan clients.
The fundamentals for the job…
- Strategic Collaboration:
- Assist DVS leadership in defining and executing analytics strategies that align with business objectives.
- Collaborate with clinical, IT, and operations teams to ensure analytical solutions meet client needs.
- Act as a subject matter expert by contributing technical insights and best practices to team projects.
- Data Analysis & Modeling:
- Design, develop, and implement advanced predictive models using large, complex datasets from sources such as medical and pharmacy claims and EMR systems.
- Utilize programming languages (Python, R, SQL) and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) to extract insights and drive decision-making.
- Evaluate model performance and continuously refine methodologies to improve forecast accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Tool Development & Advanced Reporting:
- Develop innovative analytical tools and advanced custom reports that support healthplan clients in areas such as specialty pharmacy spend, cost-saving initiatives, and drug forecasting.
- Create dynamic visualizations (using tools like Tableau or PowerBI or any others) to communicate complex data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support the development and management of new programs, including metric tracking, ROI analysis, and process improvements.
- Project Support & Innovation:
- Contribute to multiple advanced analytics projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Assist in the generation of client-facing tools that enhance feasibility analysis, contextual understanding, and budget forecasting.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating innovative approaches into project work.
What we expect of you
The bold requirements…
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered).
- 8+ years of experience in healthcare data analytics, with a strong background in working with large healthcare datasets (e.g., medical and pharmacy claims).
- 2+ years of experience in roles involving medical or pharmacy data in a health plan or pharmacy benefit management (PBM) setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in Python, R, SQL, and advanced statistical methods, with proficiency in cloud-based data analysis platforms.
- Proven track record in developing predictive models and data-driven tools that support strategic decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation in healthcare analytics.
- We are proud to offer a flexible hybrid work model which will require certain on-site workdays (Puerto Rico Location Only)
- This position requires availability to work in a specified time zone or working schedule, accommodating the business needs of our clients and team members.
- This position may require availability for on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to promptly address emergent issues or provide necessary support as dictated by operational demands (if applicable).

- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
