  • Travel/Location: On-site Tallahassee FL Required 25%-50%

 

Mission of Role/Position Summary:

The Training Manager will be play an extcitng role helping our teams support communities in need. This role responsible for developing, maintaining and updating training materials on emergency management programs and funding sources. The training manager will be responsible for facilitating initial and ongoing training needed. This role requires knowledge and experience with Housing Program funding sources specific to this program.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement training programs for staff and stakeholders on emergency management HMA funding sources.
  • Create materials and deliver training sessions on grant writing, compliance, and financial management for disaster recovery projects.
  • Stay updated on federal and state regulations governing disaster-related funding and integrate changes into training content throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify training needs and tailor content to address organizational priorities.
  • Conduct workshops on programs, including eligible activities, documentation requirements, and audit preparedness.
  • Be an ongoing resource and provide one-on-one coaching and support to staff involved in grant management or disaster funding projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness and recommend adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Build partnerships with state, local, and federal agencies to coordinate training efforts and ensure compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for emergency management funding sources within the organization.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance organizational capacity for navigating disaster-related funding processes.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with FEMA Hazard Mitigation programs and funding.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in emergency management, disaster recovery, or related fields.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience as a trainer or learning and development specialist, including designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, learner-centered training materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering training programs on funding sources and grant management.
  • Hands-on experience in grant application processes, compliance monitoring, and financial reporting for disaster-related funding.
  • Familiarity with state and local government structures and processes related to disaster recovery and emergency management.

Expected Hours of Work:

Schedule may vary including long hours. Work on evenings and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.
  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility required on-site with clients.
  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Working Environment:

  • Emergency management personnel may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings.
  • All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
  • If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.

Experience/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, Public Administration, Business, Education, or a related field. Years of experience may substitute for the education requirements on a year for year basis in addition to the minimum requirements.

Experience/Education Preferred:

  • Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM) – Training Industry.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) – ATD (now known as Certified Professional in Talent Development, CPTD).
  • Instructional Design Certificate – ATD.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US.
