Report To: Global Nutrition Cluster Operations Team Coordinator, Programmes

Location: Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Job Type: Part-time, 8-month contract with a possibility of extension.

Start Date: February, 2025

Work Hours: 20 hours per week

Salary: CAD 30K – 35K

Our leading-edge programs have been built on the foundations of technical excellence, rigour and innovative practice over many years.  We are experts in nutrition information systems, emergency nutrition and gender equality.  Action Against Hunger Canada plays a hosting role to two significant global programs (SMART and the Global Nutrition Cluster Operations Team Programme Support) that provide guidance, tools and training in the areas of nutrition data collection and analysis and best practices for emergency nutrition service delivery for hundreds of Governments, civil society organizations and international organizations worldwide.  Our programs support the capacity of public health professionals who deliver lifesaving and long-term initiatives in communities globally. We also work towards sustainable transformative health system strengthening in all our efforts to ensure a long-lasting impact together with our partners, including members of the Humanitarian Coalition. As a member of the Action Against Hunger International Network, we also provide a range of technical support for the mainstreaming of gender equality across our programs and operations worldwide. ABOUT THE ROLE

Action Against Hunger Canada is looking for a highly motivated candidate with project management skills to manage the Global Nutrition Cluster’s (GNC) Consultant Roster, which entails providing reliable and consistent services to consultant requestors and candidates. This position manages all profile information within roster databases, updating information on applications, consultant vetting, and consultant availability. The Consultant Roster Manager additionally releases email calls for the recruitment of new candidates, provides high-level vetting before sending profiles to appropriate vetting partners, sends out and assesses responses from technical tests, and responds to requests for candidates on the GNC Request Management System. It is recommended that the candidate for this role has some understanding of the types of global nutrition technical work that is conducted in the field, including the technical skills required within the sector. This role may also require participation in fundraising activities and efforts to represent the roster in all relevant forums.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the GNC’s Consultant Roster carrying out tasks such as managing online HR systems for recruitment, reviewing applications, screening candidates’ profiles, and informing vetted candidates as well as supporting the development of a roster strategy, procedures and controls.
  • Ensure that the GNC’s Consultant Roster is consistently staffed with qualified consultants.
  • Ensure consultant profiles including recommendations, availability, and documents are constantly updated and the pertinent information is incorporated into the roster database.
  • Ensure efficient and effective recommendation of candidates to requestors at the appropriate levels and skills required.
  • Ensure proper follow-up of consultant recommendations and update the rosters database accordingly.
  • Ensure the Consultant Roster webpage and other online pages and sections related to the rosters are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor and report the roster’s performance based on the identified indicators.
  • Update and communicate roster information such as Standard Operating Procedures and one-pagers, and generate accurate statistics and quality reports for the management’s review as requested.
  • Provide accurate and timely inputs in the GNC quarterly reports, GNC annual reports and any other relevant reports where inputs from the Consultant Roster are needed.
  • Support the production of high-quality progress reports as per donors and Action Against Hunger Canada requirements where inputs from the Consultant Roster are needed.
  • Engage in fundraising activities as relevant and needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline in a field related to public health, nutrition or epidemiology studies and/or equivalent experience gained.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in international development with an understanding of humanitarian, development, nutrition, gender programs, or global public health technical work.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Gender Equality and GBV risk mitigation/protection.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the creation of an enabling environment for gender equality and Safeguarding in the workplace and in humanitarian or development programming.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Office setting or work from home.
  • Required to be seated whilst completing computer and desk-based tasks for long periods.
  • May be required to work irregular business hours, particularly in times of crises and emergencies.
