Role: Copywriter specializes in US copy for a Beauty Brand

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm PST

Contract: Independent Contractor - Long Term

Compensation: Open to be negotiated depending on experience

From fashionable shower caps to our viral towel scrunchies, we aim to evolve your everyday essentials. Our client is looking to hire a dynamic Executive Assistant who is primarily responsible for providing executive, administrative, and development support to the Brand Founders to empower our senior leadership. The ideal person for the job is a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

About the Role

As a core member of our marketing and creative team, the copywriter is tasked with managing all Copywriting processes, from task management in Asana to the development of compelling brand voices across various platforms. This role requires a proactive approach to creating distinctive packaging copy, engaging web content,memorable product names, taglines, and slogans that resonate with our audience while maintaining rigorous organizational standards to streamline our content creation. The copywriter will continuously refine our messaging to ensure it is aligned with our brand standards, contributes to our marketing initiatives, complies with regulations, and enhances our presence on key retail channels, thereby driving our brand's success and visibility

1. Task Management

Objective: Effectively manage copywriting tasks using Asana.

Key Results:

  • Maintain an updated task list with no overdue assignments.
  • Ensure all tasks are marked with the appropriate status (e.g., in progress,completed).
  • Provide weekly reviews & updates of the task list for prioritization and deadline adjustments, communicating cross-functionally when necessary.

2. Brand Voice Development

Objective: Establish and consistently use a distinctive brand voice across all content.

Key Results:

  • Conduct quarterly reviews of content to ensure consistency in brand voice acrossproduct descriptions, packaging, product naming and web copy.
  • Create a list of core phrases and words to use and words to not use to share with the rest of the team.
  • Create fun play-on-words to be used company-wide that are signature to the brand.

3. Product Naming, Taglines and Slogans

Objective: Generate unique and memorable products and color names, taglines and slogans that capture the essence of products - ensure these taglines are own able and do not infringe on any trademarks or copyrights

Key Results:

  • Develop a minimum of 3 taglines or slogans per A-launch products
  • Taglines/slogans to be tested and should achieve a recall rate of over 70% in focus groups.
  • Provide a list of 5 potential names per product initiative taking marketing and key search terms into account (use Amazon to help support!)
  • Names should pass legal and trademark screening on the first submission

4. Web Copy

Objective: Create engaging bullet point, short, and long web copy that increases search optimization for our key retailers and owned channels. Ensure we do not make false claims and provide supporting documentation when making claims.

Key Results:

  • Provide each product with universal bullet points providing the 5 key selling benefits
  • Short copy for retailer websites
  • long copy to be used across all channels
  • How-to instructions for complicated products
  • FAQs for A-launches

5. Packaging Copy

Objective: Develop compelling packaging copy that aligns with brand standards and have been cleared by regulatory department

Key Results:

  • Work with the product development team, Brand Manager, and creative team to ensure packaging copy looks aesthetically pleasing as well as addresses main marketing initiatives. Customers should know what it is and what it does in 3 seconds.
  • Produce skeleton guidelines for packaging to ensure ease of duplication for future products.
  • Ensure files are organized and saved for easy access for all team members.
  • Be the final point of approval of the packaging copy to confirm that it is free of errors.

6. Organization & Process

Objective: Maintain high levels of organization in all Copywriting processes by creating clear, and duplicable outlines for key copy types in easy-to-find locations.

Key Results:

  • Develop and document outlines for at least 3 types of recurring copy requirements each quarter.
  • Training team members on using these outlines, aiming for a 30% reduction in content development time.
  • Files and documents are to be 100% up-to-date and properly categorized in the shared drive.
  • Zero instances of lost or misplaced work documents.

Requirements

  • C1 English level
  • At least 3+ years of professional, extensive experience as Copywriter
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple projects seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • SEO knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Beauty and Fashion industry experience preferred
  • Receptiveness to feedback and able to meet deadlines
