Job Description

AHRC New York City is seeking Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their Day Programs in ALL FIVE BOROUGHS. 

Pay Rate: $17-20.20 per hour...plus a comprehensive Benefit package. See Benefit information below.

  • Starting Rate: $17 per hour

  • After 6 Months: Increases to $18 per hour (if in good standing)

  • Bonuses (depending on driving status & program placement):

    • $2,000 annually upon completion and passing of AHRC Defensive Driving class

    • $2,000 annually upon completion of AMAP training

Schedule - Monday - Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives and becoming active members of their communities.
  • The oversight of all safety and health considerations
  • Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies
  • Assisting with Adult Daily Living skills (ADLs)

Qualifications

  • Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver, and the ability to keep up to date pertaining to such knowledge, and interpret same.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
