Calibration Technician - Field (Servo, Innovations, an Aldinger Co)

The Role:

We are seeking a Calibration Technician to join our team at Servo-Innovations, an Aldinger Company.  

As a Calibration Technician, you will work independently to test, calibrate, and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment across differing fields and environments.  

We service a wide variety of customers across many industries, which requires a broad cross-section of skills. The ideal candidate has well-rounded electronic and physical/dimensional calibration experience as our team covers calibrations in many disciplines. These include a wide variety of electronic/electrical and physical/dimensional instruments such as: calipers, micrometers, torque instruments, pressure gauges, pH meters, and load cells many others.

Location: On-site at various customer sites in Wayland, MI and across the country with overnight travel (up to 50% - every other week).  

Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Complete accurate and timely calibrations on customer sites. 
  • Perform routine and complex calibration on a wide variety of equipment per company processes and instruction documentation.  
  • Perform calibration of a variety of devices and instruments in accordance with established procedures and standards. 
  • Ensure all calibration activities comply with industry regulations and quality standards. 
  • Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment. 
  • Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects. 
  • Working directly with the client throughout the calibration process from the first onsite touch point to the completion of the project, including good communication to provide client updates on services needed. 
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date. 
  • Interact professionally with customers, providing excellent service and support.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • One of the following: 
    • 2+ years of work experience in Calibrations 
    • Associate's degree in engineering, Electronics or other Technical Fields 
    • Completed formal calibration training in both electronic and Physical/Dimensional disciplines, or equivalent experience.  
    • Military PMEL Training and Certification 
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university 
  • Knowledge of calibration principles, procedures, methods, and techniques in metrology gained through education or professional experience 
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to perform precise procedures consistently. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.  
  • Able to climb, kneel, drive and stand for long periods of time. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Electrical, Physical, and/or Mechanical Calibration of equipment. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customers’ locations in the Wayland, MI area and across the US.
