At Inwood Animal Clinic, we specialize in quality veterinary care for pets of all ages. We are available to address any potential issues, so our patients will enjoy a lifetime of great health! Our goal is to deliver top-quality care for every animal that walks through our doors. We've been serving New York City since 2008. we're conveniently located on Broadway between Academy Street and 204th Street.

Our hours of operation are:

  • Monday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Thursday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Sunday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Primary duties will include: On-site pharmacy management, filling prescriptions for pets, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, answering calls or emails and direct to the appropriate party for resolution, working closely with pet parents to understand the medications their pets are being given- including discussing side effects, contraindications, and continued care for refill management.

Secondary duties will include: Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

  • A Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred
  • Compassionate team player with a willingness and desire to learn
  • Experience with filling prescriptions; experience with compounding medications being a plus
  • Working knowledge of commonly used veterinary pharmaceuticals, must be comfortable discussing medications with pet parents
  • Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm while discussing various medical outcomes with pet parents
  • General understanding of inventory management
  • Highly organized and possess computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to properly restrain pets
  • Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
  • Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset

Additional Information

Pay Range: $17 - $23/hr dependent on experience
