IT Systems Engineer (Mid Level)

Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.

For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our IT environment, with a focus on networking, virtualization, and systems administration across both Windows and Linux platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Windows Server, VMware, Proxmox, and Linux systems, and a strong background in network infrastructure and security.

• Design, deploy, and manage on-premise and virtualized infrastructure using VMware and Proxmox.
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.).
• Manage and support Linux-based systems and applications (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.).
• Administer network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of critical systems.
• Plan and implement system upgrades, patches, and configurations.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and system diagrams.
• Collaborate with development, security, and support teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with business needs and security policies.
• Provide tier 2/3 support for escalated issues.

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Design, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure GCC High.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, routing, switching, and network security.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
• Proficiency with Linux system administration (bash scripting is a plus).
• Experience managing virtual environments using VMware vSphere/ESXi and Proxmox VE.
• Knowledge of storage systems (SAN/NAS), backups, and disaster recovery practices.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG).
• Ensure full compliance with NIST 800-171, DFARS, CMMC, and other relevant standards. Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Provide tier 3 support for escalated system issues, troubleshooting complex problems related to cloud networking, identity, and infrastructure.

• Certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, VCP, CompTIA Network+, Comptia security+ or Cisco CCNA.
• Experience with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, hybrid deployments).
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000 a year
