Sr Director, Finance

About Avive:

Avive Solutions, Inc. (https://avive.life) is a growth stage Automated External Defibrillator (AED) company with a connected response system that is rapidly gaining market share. We are a mission driven team that is quite literally saving lives. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States, and we are on a mission to change that! We are a dynamic organization that builds elegant, creative solutions to solve complex problems. Ultimately, our mission is for all cardiac arrest victims to have rapid access to life-saving defibrillation.

Avive is taking a fresh approach to addressing this decades-old problem by innovating AED technology, coupled with a first-of-its-kind software platform solution to enable a quicker and more streamlined response to SCA emergencies. We believe that this unique combination of deploying advanced – yet still accessible – hardware, and software, has the potential to revolutionize out-of-hospital cardiac arrest response and massively impact SCA survival rates.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Sr. Director, Finance that will report to our CFO and serve as an effective leader on our Finance team, as well as a key business partner to Senior Leadership. This role will be critical in supporting our company’s rapid growth while playing a key part in developing effective financial reporting and analysis.

What you'll do:
  • Lead Avive’s financial planning and analysis function.
  • Partner with the CFO and CEO to build and improve our existing long-range forecasting to support strategic business objectives.
  • Partner with the leadership team to build effective annual operating plans (budgets) that support their operations and provide timely, effective and insightful reporting to them so they can efficiently manage to budget while pushing to exceed our company objectives.
  • Build and own monthly financial / business reviews with the leadership team members.
  • Partner with our Sr. Director of Business Operations to build out and maintain advanced data warehouse reporting, including a monthly “Management Reporting Book” and on demand self-serve financial and non-financial dashboards.
  • Manage cost accounting to deeply understand cost drivers in our products and drive sustained margin improvement.
  • Drive exponential improvements in business systems and processes to keep pace with the growth of the company and work cross-functionally to implement them.
  • Own Revenue Recognition, partnering with Sales, Marketing and Sales/Marketing Operations to track sales to monthly/quarterly budget targets, and with Accounting to ensure revenue is properly recognized.
  • Build the plane while we fly it! The business won’t stop while you build great FP&A reporting. We need to develop world-class finance support while we accelerate our operations. You have to be comfortable with this and be able to effectively prioritize both the urgent business needs and the strategic improvements we must implement to scale the business for the future.

Who you are:
  • 10-15+ years of high-growth FP&A experience. You've previously helped build and scale FP&A functions at fast growing medical device companies (or other FDA regulated environments) as they commercialize. You are a great "player-coach" able to dive into the weeds and own it or delegate effectively as needed.
  • Strong expertise in data analysis and implementing financial planning systems. You can build and rebuild highly complex forecast models with ease. You’re deeply knowledgeable about data warehouse best practices and have advanced proficiency taking Excel-based modeling and converting it into modern BI and Financial Planning platforms.
  • You’re great at balancing strategic thinking and details. You are at home thinking big and helping manage the strategic drivers, while diving into the details and spending the time to make sure your output is stellar. You have a good sense of where to focus to maximize your productivity vs. the time investment required.
  • A growth mindset and comfort with ambiguity. You are comfortable working in a dynamically growing early-stage commercial environment that will require you to build systems and processes while effectively managing the day-to-day competing priorities to support our customers and executive team.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills. You can effectively engage with all of our stakeholders to earn their trust in you as a strategic partner while asking the right questions and pushing the team appropriately to maximize our growth. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • A team player. You bring a positive energy to your teams and are generally known for being great to work with.

Requirements:
  • Extensive experience with medical device companies (or other FDA regulated environments) as they commercialized is a must
  • Experience with hardware and/or inventory businesses is a must
  • NetSuite ERP Software strongly preferred
  • Advanced financial modeling in Excel, including highly complex spreadsheets
  • Financial Planning Systems is a must - Hyperion, Adaptive, or similar systems
  • Data warehouse experience preferred - Looker, Snowflake
  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting
