Job Description

Category Manager

As a Category Manager at Capi, you are part of the Purchase team at our headquarters in Amsterdam. You are responsible for the daily management and procurement of an innovative Sunglasses, jewelry and fashion assortment for all our stores. With over 50 stores at airports across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, you contribute to a surprising electronics offering for 350 million travelers. Our store concept is fully tailored to travelers, providing an inspiring shopping experience with exclusive product launches and campaigns from leading brands such as Samsung, Apple, JBL, Bose, and Philips. Within the role of Category Manager, you are responsible from A to Z for your own product category and liaise with international suppliers, our shop managers, marketing, and logistics.

Working within the travel retail industry is dynamic. Travelers' mindsets result in different buying behaviors, and various nationalities make this role at Capi more challenging than at other retailers. You stay informed about the latest innovations, curate a suitable assortment for our target audience, handle product procurement from suppliers, and analyze sales figures and margins. Together with the marketing team, you introduce exclusive products and inspiring campaigns to ensure that surprising shopping experience.

Additionally, you are responsible for various projects, such as our omnichannel strategy, positioning smart innovations, and expansion in Europe and the Middle East. As we are experiencing strong growth, you contribute to the assortment and procurement for new stores and play a crucial role in these openings.

Qualifications

This is you

  • A completed commercial education at HBO/WO level;
  • At least 1 or 2 years of experience as a (Junior) Category Manager, Buyer, or a similar (procurement) role;
  • Experience within the (Travel) Retail industry is a plus;
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English languages;
  • Competencies in negotiation, persuasion, entrepreneurship, customer, and result orientation;
  • Ability to anticipate market developments and understanding of consume behavior;
  • High level of ambition and willingness to take initiative;
  • Stress resistance and perseverance.

  • A competitive salary commensurate with your experience, plus an annual fixed Christmas bonus and performance-related bonus;
