Manager, Donor Communications

As the Donor Communications Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with supporters and stakeholders through compelling, mission-driven communications. The ideal candidate is a gifted storyteller, skilled writer, and passionate communicator who understands how to inspire generosity and convey impact.
As a Manager, Donor Communications, some key responsibilities will be
- Strategic Communications:
- Develop and implement donor communications strategies that align with BBYO’s mission and fundraising goals
- Work with the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Grants
- Execute fundraising journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including the use of journeys, dynamic data, A/B tests, and other sophisticated features
- Content Creation:
- Draft, edit, and produce high-quality communications, including emails, one-pagers, donor videos, and website copy geared toward donors and supporter
- Manage resource hub for fundraisers including templates, photos, statistics, quotes, and materials related to fundraising
- Campaign Execution and Support:
- Develop and execute two major grassroots fundraising campaigns in collaboration with BBYO regions, including Giving Tuesday
- Write and manage messaging for fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special initiatives across print and digital platforms, and track metrics for all communications
- Event Support:
- Contribute to the development of donor-focused materials for major events
- Lead the development and growth of foundation and individual sponsorships at BBYO’s annual International Convention
- Donor Stewardship:
- Create personalized content for stewardship, including thank-you letters, reports, newsletters, and donor spotlights
- Direct Mail:
- Write copy for five direct mailings a year; work with design team and mail house to create and mail appeals
Essential Skills for Making a Lasting Impact:
- Washington, DC preferred, open to remote locations in the United States
- A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, or related area
- 3–5 years of experience in non-profit communications, donor relations, or related field
- Understanding of fundraising principles and the donor journey
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a supporter-centric mindset
- Strong project management and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Familiarity with Jewish culture, values, and community preferred
- Some experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and basic design tools (e.g., Canva)
- Travel Requirement: 10% +; including Staff Conference, BBYO International Convention and institutional funder meetings. Open to staffing summer programs should they be interested, not required

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Standing/Walking – The need to remain on your feet and/or walk for long periods of time on various terrains.
- Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling – Moving objects and carts and having the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Reaching – Stretching to reach objects or areas, often above shoulders or across the body.
- Bending/Stooping/Kneeling/Crawling - Frequent bending or stooping to pick things up or work in lower areas. Kneeling or crawling to access equipment or work in confined spaces.
- Manual Handling – Repetitive movements like sorting, stacking, or manipulating materials.
- Work Environment – Ability to work in specific environments like extreme temperatures, noisy areas, outdoors or confined spaces.
