What We're Looking For


Beam is seeking a Claims Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing claims and determining coverage based on policy provisions and state regulations. The ideal candidate is adaptable, highly focused, and skilled at problem-solving. You should be comfortable working independently with limited supervision and able to approach each claim with a keen eye for detail. An investigative mindset, accuracy, and strong communication skills are essential in this position.

What You Will Do
  • Review claims thoroughly to determine coverage, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and aligned with policy provisions.
  • Process received paper claims and enter them into the system for further evaluation.
  • Handle claims dispositions by processing claims in various categories, ensuring correct classifications and timely resolution.
  • Review claims for rejection and error status, identifying and rectifying issues to prevent delays.
  • Add additional documentation to claims for the Clinical Review team, ensuring completeness for further processing.
  • Support W9 processing and ensure accurate tax information is provided and processed.
  • Assist with UM support by ensuring that claims related to utilization management are handled appropriately and efficiently.


What Skills Will Help You Be Successful
  • 2+ years of experience in claims processing, insurance, or a related field, with a proven ability to evaluate and resolve claims efficiently.
  • Prior experience with paper claims processing, including understanding of regulatory requirements and insurance policies.
  • Familiarity with utilization management (UM) processes and claims review for compliance.
  • Experience working with PHI/PII and handling sensitive data with discretion and in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high accuracy levels when reviewing claims.
  • Investigative mindset with strong analytical skills to assess and determine appropriate claim resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with internal teams and external parties.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.


$41,500 - $62,300 a year

Compensation and Benefits:

Beam offers a competitive base salary paired with an attractive variable compensation structure.

Additionally, Beam provides a 401(k) plan with company matching, flexible time off, and the opportunity to participate in the equity program.


The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position.
