Strategic Vendor Operations Manager

 

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Strategic Vendor Operations Manager to lead our supplier sourcing and relationship management initiatives. This role focuses on identifying and managing suppliers across diverse manufacturing technologies, ensuring alignment with our company's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on management skills and be willing to travel up to 25% of the time to engage with suppliers directly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Sourcing & Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers specializing in various manufacturing technologies, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
  • Hands-On Vendor Management: Engage directly with suppliers to oversee production processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements that align with company goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to align supplier capabilities with project requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly assess supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for supplier visits, audits, and relationship management activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in vendor management or strategic sourcing, with a focus on manufacturing technologies.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in supplier evaluation and performance metrics.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
