Senior Engineer, UI/UX

Bellese Technologies is looking for help solving big problems in healthcare. We need engineers who love to develop performant, elegant, and useful solutions for use by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and their providers and beneficiaries.


Team you will be joining

This team is charged with supporting CMS in their effort to modernize the Medicare Payment System. We employ a research-driven, user-centered, agile, and adaptive product development approach to deliver modern and standards-based solutions. This effort empowers CMS to provide responsive, correct, and accessible systems and processes for processing payments. The team works very closely with our CMS customer teams, as well as other teams in the modernization effort. 


What you will be doing

As an Senior Engineer

Influence: Makes an impact on the whole team, not just on specific parts of it.

Technology: Researches, creates proofs of concept, and introduces new technologies.

System: Owns the technical design, development, maintenance, and operational responsibilities for one or more projects or products.

People: Mentors others to accelerate their career-growth and encourages them to participate.

Process: Enforces the team processes, making sure everybody understands the benefits and tradeoffs.

These are the types of things you’ll be working on 

UI Design and Development: Design and develop user interfaces, informed by UX designs that meet customer needs.

Accessibility: Understanding of user accessibility needs, assessment and validation tools, and 508 compliance. Review and resolve accessibility report findings.

Development Experience: Apply all phases of the SDLC to products and components to deliver, monitor, and maintain solutions that are robust, scalable, and optimized for performance.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teammates, external teams, and client stakeholders to ensure products align with user needs and overall objectives. Provide development insights during planning and problem-solving discussions.

Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of related products to assist our team and stakeholders.

Security Implementation: Implement and continuously monitor robust security measures to protect sensitive data and systems from unauthorized access and threats, following industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and techniques, driving innovation and staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices that bring value to our customers.

Implement Automation: Automate repetitive tasks within the SDLC, including code integration, testing, security, and deployment.

Required Qualifications & Experience 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

10+ years of work experience.

Participation in on-call rotation


Direct knowledge is great, but knowledge with alternative products is perfectly OK! The concepts are likely the same, and new tech can be learned.

Frontend development - Typescript, React, Redux, Vite, Jest, Playwright

Experience building web applications with role-based access control, preferably with Okta

Testing - accessibility testing and frontend automation testing, using tools such as Axe and Playwright

AWS services - we use Fargate/ECS, RDS, CloudWatch, Cognito

CI/CD tools - we use Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, Docker

Agile development methodologies and tools - we use GitHub, Jira, Confluence 

BONUS: Familiarity with HL7 FHIR, as Bellese is building our expertise in this area

BONUS: Experience identifying and implementing test cases for unit and integration testing, with a focus on automation

BONUS: Backend development experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Maven, OpenAPI/Swagger
