Senior Data Engineer - Automated Trading

Belvedere Trading is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team out of either Chicago, Illinois or Boulder, Colorado in a hybrid working model. Our Data Engineers are responsible for data services, including ELT and ETL pipeline implementation, data warehouse architecture, data quality automation, and analytic visualization. We expect a Senior Data Engineer to need minimal guidance on architecture best practices. You will work closely with System Operators, Quant Researchers, and Software Developers to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. As a Senior Data Engineer at Belvedere, you have the opportunity to work on supporting cutting-edge research in financial markets.

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and data infrastructure 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement data solutions 
• Develop and optimize ELT and ETL processes to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely data delivery 
• Work with large datasets to perform data wrangling, cleaning, and transformation tasks 
• Monitor and troubleshoot data systems to ensure their reliability and performance. 
• Ensure data security, quality, and integrity throughout the data lifecycle 
• Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to continuously improve the team’s data capabilities 
• Disseminate best practices for building and querying curated data sets 

• 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role with a strong background in data engineering 
• Proven expertise with SQL and Python 
• In-depth experience with data warehouses, cloud technologies (preferably GCP), and big data platforms 
• Experience with ELT/ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Dataform, Apache Airflow) 
• Strong understanding of the tradeoffs between different data platforms, including RDBMS, NoSQL, and Time Series 
• Expertise in data modeling and data warehousing 
• Proficiency in crafting high-performance BigQuery queries, optimizing for efficiency and scalability to handle large datasets effectively 
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills 

• Experience with real time messaging systems, such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar 
• Experience with stream processing frameworks, such as Flink or Spark 
• Experience with real time visualization tools like Plotly Dash and Jupyter notebooks 
• Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and monitoring tools 
• Experience in financial markets or trading systems 
• Familiarity with ML models 
• Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns, such as microservices and serverless computing 
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes 
• Certifications in cloud technologies or big data platforms 

During onboarding, Senior Data Engineers at Belvedere will participate in a rotational program to expose and train on Belvedere systems. After successfully completing the rotational program, this individual will join the Combine Research Team helping to develop fully automated, black box trading strategies.
