The role:
The General Manager of North Carolina is a key leadership role responsible for the overall financial, clinical, and operational success of our innovative model for addiction services within a specific market. This position requires a seasoned, business-minded, and operational professional with a strong background in building and leading a diverse team of clinicians (such as physicians, nurse practitioners, and counselors) and operators, managing relationships with key external partners including payors and community organizations, and optimizing overall gross margin of the market. The role involves leading a clinical, medical, and operational team to deliver high-quality, accessible care to marginalized communities through a differentiated, purpose-built tech-enabled platform.
This is a hybrid position. Must be able to regularly work in-person at our office in Fayetteville, North Carolina in addition to travel throughout the state, and be able to travel for occasional meetings at our offices in Boston, MA, or the NYC area approximately quarterly. When not in-office, work will be performed remotely.
What you will do:- Market Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the success of the market
- Foster innovative approaches to optimize member and financial outcomes while driving sustainable growth
- Team Management:
- Build, lead, and inspire a multidisciplinary team, including clinical, medical, and operational professionals
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members for professional growth and development Effectively manage a hybrid workforce, ensuring seamless collaboration and productivity regardless of place of work
- Implement best practices for remote and in-office work, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment
- Payor Relations:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with market payors (including Medicaid agencies), maintaining contracts, and ensuring alignment with value-based care models and outcomes
- Stay informed about changes in reimbursement policies and adapt strategies accordingly
- Cultivate new payor relationships in the market
- Gross Margin Accountability:
- Analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions to optimize financial performance
- Implement initiatives to ensure that the market is operating to budget while improving service quality
- Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings
- Clinical Excellence
- Collaborate with the clinical team to maintain or enhance the quality of whole-person clinical services
- Ensure compliance with relevant clinical standards and regulations
- Work with the clinical team to innovate on the care model to achieve the mission including developing new approaches to increase access to optimal care outcomes
- Market Expansion:
- Work closely with the growth team to increase membership across the state
- Assess the competitive landscape and recommend strategies for differentiation
- Maintain and deepen relationships with key community-based organizations Regulatory Strategy and Adherence:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Medicaid regulations and their impact on Substance Use Services
- Work closely with state and regional regulators to stay abreast of and provide guidance on state policy initiatives that may impact BLP members and communities
- Ensure compliance with CMS requirements in all aspects of service delivery
- Ensure compliance with state and payor regulatory requirements
You are a good fit if you have:- Master's level degree, such as an MBA
- 5+ years in a senior operational leadership role
- 3+ years of experience with profit and loss accountability in a healthcare or related setting
- Gifted at interfacing with executives and other colleagues
- Prior experience managing a hybrid (remote and in-person) workforce Prior experience managing a diverse team that includes clinicians including physicians counselors, and operators
- Prior experience working in a high-growth environment Strong understanding of Medicaid and healthcare reimbursement Passion for healthcare, with a commitment to improving outcomes See the value of technology in driving improvement in care and care access and are eager to help develop such technology
- A desire and ability to be in the office 2-3 days per week
- Live in North Carolina with the ability to regularly travel in-state primarily to Robeson & Cumberland County
It will also be great if you have:- Prior experience working at a health-tech start-up
- Prior experience with value-based care
- A professional clinical/medical degree
- At least 3+ years of experience delivering clinical care Prior experience working with a low-income or Medicaid population
- Strong passion for the mental health or substance use space
Work location requirements:- BLP operates in hybrid and remote work environments, which allows us to better meet our members and partners where they’re located. Candidates applying for this role must be willing and able to travel locally within the communities we serve and/or travel to onsite meetings as expected in coordination with their department and business needs.
When working from home, the requirements include:- Must have reliable internet service with a fast upload/download ability
- Ability to ensure any protected health or proprietary data/information is not visible (or audible) to others in any work location
- Must have a quiet space to speak to members, team members, or external partners with minimal background noise and distractions
$150,000 - $190,000 a year
The actual compensation offered within the range, along with title and level, will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, business requirements, and performance expectations. All full-time BLPeeps are also eligible for equity in the form of stock options to be invested in BLP’s growth and success!
