Assistant to the Upper School Division Director (Full-time, year-round, on-site)

Position Description

Burke’s seeks a full-time professional to assist the Upper School Division Director. The role is responsible for coordinating and communicating the varied logistical needs of the Upper School throughout the school year as well as supporting the work of the office of the Division Director. This role works well for someone who enjoys interacting with students, faculty, parents/guardians, and administration in a mission-driven institution committed to a sense of community. Additionally, this work benefits from having someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and who is a creative, flexible problem-solver.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Upper School Division Director:
    • Manage student attendance
    • Arrange for substitute coverage
    • Order supplies for teachers and classrooms
    • Create the Blue Sheet for teachers and students (week-at-a-glance)
    • Coordinate Student-led Conferences twice each year
    • Assist in preparations for Upper School events such as Back-to-School Night and traditions like Commencement
    • Support additional logistical needs of the Upper School and the work of the office of the Division Director
    • Maintain a professional and mission-aligned presence in the Upper School Office
    • Maintain systems for student records and transmission of transcripts
    • Attend faculty and staff meetings as appropriate
  • Communication: 
    • Effective communication with faculty, staff, and administration in support of a collegial and collaborative professional community aligned with a common goal
    • Timely, supportive, and developmentally appropriate communication with students, parents, and caregivers to foster a strong partnership with families aligned with school policies
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate effectively with the Division Director and Faculty/Staff in support of school initiatives and the daily work of the school
  • Supervisory duties as needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent

Compensation

The Administrative Assistant is an hourly position. Burke’s offers competitive compensation with a pay range of $36.00 - $43.00 based on years of experience. Comprehensive benefits are provided, including a 7.5% retirement plan contribution for eligible employees. More information about the school can be found on the website at www.burkes.org.
