Position Summary 

National Programs seeks a motivated Intern to support our small business programs and alumni engagement efforts in the DMV region. This role offers hands-on experience in program coordination, community outreach, event planning, and communications. The intern will assist with organizing workshops, managing alumni relations, creating marketing materials, and supporting small business initiatives. Ideal candidates are self-starters, detail-oriented, passionate about entrepreneurship, and eager to gain experience in business development and nonprofit work. This position provides valuable networking opportunities and professional growth in a dynamic, growing, and mission-driven environment. 

This is a one-year, grant-funded internship position, contingent upon continued grant support. Renewal beyond the one-year term is not guaranteed.

This is a part-time, temporary position (40 hours/week). This internship will start 06/02/2025 and end on 12/19/2025.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Program Support - Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of small business programs, including workshops, networking events, and training sessions.
  • Alumni Engagement -  Help develop and implement strategies to strengthen relationships with program alumni, including managing communications, organizing alumni meetups, and tracking engagement.
  • Outreach & Communications - Draft newsletters, social media posts, and email campaigns to promote programs and highlight success stories.
  • Research & Resource Development - Conduct research on best practices in small business support and alumni engagement, and compile relevant resources for entrepreneurs.
  • Event Coordination - Provide logistical support for in-person and virtual events, including attendee management, materials preparation, and follow-up activities.
  • Data Management - Enter data in Salesforce to track program activities and participation and generate reports to measure impact.

Professional Skills, Education and Experience

  • Current student or recent graduate in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Passion for small business development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Experience with social media management and email marketing tools (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and familiarity with Salesforce preferred.

The salary range for this position is $18 - $20 an hour.

 

This role is primarily remote with in office activities, must be able to go in when required (about once a month).
