Position Summary - Market Research & Data Analysis Intern

The intern will join Momentus Capital’s Impact Strategy Team. This team helps facilitate mid-to-long-term planning, develops strategic research and insights, and oversees impact data collection and analysis.

The intern will work collaboratively with Impact Strategy Team members and leadership on the analysis of key and emerging opportunities to support positive social impact through our work. They will contribute to the team’s development of strategic approaches by helping strengthen our understanding of the role that small businesses play in the US economy

This position will report to the Manager of Strategy & Market Research, and work remotely. The intern will work collaboratively with team members and leads across the organization to uncover and help prioritize new opportunities for impact and growth.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support the Manager, Strategy & Market Research with work for ongoing Momentus Capital research and data analysis projects.
• Independently lead at least one (1) major research and data analysis project with guidance and oversight from Manager, Strategy & Market Research:
• Complete research and data analysis project to update estimates in December 2018 SBA Small Business GDP Report by leveraging more recent data sources
• Other research projects to be determined.
• Participate in Impact Strategy Team (IST) meetings and provide minor project support to IST as requested.

• A self-starter with a proactive and positive approach to spearheading projects and collaboration.

• Some proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; enthusiasm and ability to learn intermediate functions (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) as required.
• Familiarity with creating clean data visualizations, storyboards, and cohesive, concise slide decks.
• Highly accountable, detail-oriented, and organized, demonstrating an ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal (written and verbal) communication skills.
• A commitment to rigor and high-quality analysis and work as a matter of integrity.
• A team-first attitude, sharing credit, providing thoughtful feedback to teammates, and being actively open-minded.
• Passion for community and economic development, social justice, data driven perspectives, and rigor in research and recommendation development.

Professional Skills, Education and Experience

• Current student or recent graduate in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
• Passion for small business development, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Experience with social media management and email marketing tools (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and familiarity with Salesforce preferred.

The salary range for this position is $18 - $20 an hour.

This role is primarily remote with in office activities, must be able to go in when required (about once a month).
