Position Summary

The Senior Specialist will directly participate and help plan, coordinate, design, implement and manage operational activities of Momentus Capital’s commercial real estate programming including capacity building efforts such as the EDI Program for emerging developers. This position will work closely with the Emerging Developer and broader Technical Assistance team within Capital Deployment to also help identify, recommend, develop and implement programmatic activities in alignment with the Company’s corporate goals and objectives. The Senior Specialist reports to the Director, National Real Estate Programs.

The Senior Specialist will support capacity-building for businesses and individuals who aspire to grow their firms or access capital, by facilitating local training and technical assistance efforts through communications and outreach, cohort management, relationship management, and event management. The Senior Specialist will also provide critical support to team members across Momentus Capital leading curriculum design, grant disbursal, and technical assistance efforts in a highly collaborative, dynamic, and team environment. The Senior Specialist will also help coordinate technical assistance delivery at a local level on a direct or matrixed basis.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Help design, launch and oversee the implementation of capacity building initiatives, including the EDI emerging developer learning series across various local areas, in collaboration with the Director, National Real Estate Programs and internal and external partners.  Support programming as needed in additional geographies to support national initiatives.
  • Support overall program administration, including the scoping, budgeting and contracting of local consultants to deliver in accordance with scopes of work and agreed budgets.
  • Ensure timely implementation of programmatic activities at all phases
  • Maintain all records of programmatic activities and maintain open communication with implementing partners for a healthy working relationship
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance in the region as needed.  Assess technical assistance needs of program participants and Momentus Capital potential and existing borrowers in assigned geographies.  Provide direct technical assistance to clients in the areas of project budgeting (sources and uses) and troubleshooting support during the loan application process (pre-loan) and following loan closing (post-loan).  Coordinate with the Sr. Technical Assistance Manager on sourcing additional technical assistance  resources as needed.
  • Support program evaluation efforts and utilize results to inform future programming
  • Support Communications team to ensure timely update of program activities, communication material, multimedia activities, press releases, etc. 
  • Support timely collection of program results from implementing partners
  • Help prepare and deliver program reports to funding organizations and senior management
  • Participate in the coordination with the Capital Deployment  teams to inform place based market needs, contribute to place-based strategy
  • Support the  cultivation of  relationships with external stakeholders and other community groups to further the reach of programs
  • Support coordination with the Development Team to cultivate local funder relationships and support the development of funding proposals with specific local content
  • Share information among all program partners with coordinating regular meetings and the distribution of meeting minutes and other updates
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of professional experience working in community and economic development for individuals, businesses and communities or 9 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.   
  • Strong operational, execution, analytical, problem-solving, communication, detail-oriented, and judgment skills, especially in working across teams and departments
  • Strong written, oral communication (e.g., presentations, conference calls, virtual meetings, periodic reports) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing training or capacity building programs
  • Knowledge/experience with scoping and providing technical assistance and financial analysis of small businesses
  • Knowledge/experience with commercial real estate, affordable housing, small business or related field
  • Knowledge/experience of working in community development finance, preferred
  • Inclusive and comfort interacting with diverse audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Google Docs/ Sheets)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%  required
  • Proficiency in Spanish or additional languages desirable

The salary range for this position is $66,514.00 - $83,142.00 per year

This role is Remote with and is eligible for an annual incentive.
