Child Start is recruiting for a Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for a full-time career opportunity to develop, implement and manage outreach strategies, engagement initiatives and events to build and maintain relationships with local community organizations, businesses and individuals. This role is responsible for ensuring that the community's needs are met and their voices are heard. The coordinator will collaborate with internal teams to design and execute engagement programs and initiatives that support the organization's goals. The ideal candidate should have a passion for community building and be skilled in building strong relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Assist the ECC Program Director with the development and management of budgets for outreach and engagement initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase community engagement and involvement within the ECC program and grants.
- Assist the ECC Program Director with the development of event plans and budgets, and the management of all aspects of event planning and execution.
- Assist the Communication and Development Coordinator in the development and execution of promotional campaigns to create awareness of the ECC program and grants.
- Create and maintain promotional materials for the ECC program and outreach and engagement activities.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate events such as conferences, meetings, seminars, booths, and other special events for the ECC program and grants.
- Develop marketing and promotional materials for events.
- Manage event logistics, such as registrations, catering, transportation, and audio/visual needs, etc.
- Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, vendors, sponsors, and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Cultivate relationships and partnerships with community partners, businesses and early childhood agencies to elevate the needs of young children and child care providers.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, business, early childhood/child development. Knowledge of child care required.
- Requires one to three years of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating nonprofit events preferred.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, including creating and editing documents, and compiling data using spreadsheets.
- High level of proficiency using PowerPoint, Canva, Visme and/or other graphic design platforms to create presentations, social media posts, and marketing and promotional materials for the program and events.
- Excels in analyzing a variety of reports and data sources, to support compiling and synthesizing information.
- Ability to work with a diverse client population.
- Requires good interpersonal, communication, and teambuilding skills.
- Holds a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to complete projects in a timely manner and to multi-task.
- Provide technical assistance to child care programs specific to any financial requirements of the grants program, with a focus on maintaining accurate records.
- Participates in all Child Care Aware of Kansas orientation, communication/coordination meetings and trainings.
Child Start's Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator is $20.47 per hour, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
