Job Description

Job Title: Communications Intern

Job Overview:

We are preparing for our 2025 summer internship season!

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a talented and creative Communications Intern to support our marketing and communications efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in content creation, digital marketing, and brand communications in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role will report to the Senior Messaging and Communications Specialist, and will offer the opportunity to work directly with senior leadership team members on important company initiatives. 

We are looking for a detail-oriented, driven and conscientious person, with positivity and enthusiasm and integrity. Our business is built upon the foundation of loving your neighbor, and we’re looking for an individual who not only has the skills to succeed, but the character and personality to fit in with our beloved company culture. 

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting weekly & monthly newsletters
  • Drafting monthly social media content for Facebook and Linkedin
  • Maintaining subscriber lists on email and texting platforms
  • Reviewing and publishing content on company intranet
  • Simple, internal email building and scheduling
  • Drafting and scheduling text blasts to internal audiences
  • Assisting with custom copywriting/editing requests from Franchisees and Home Office team members 
  • Occasional fulfillment support as needed 
  • Simple graphic design support as needed (not required but preferred) 
  • Maintaining communications task list for store ownership transitions

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field

Experience: 

  • Functional understanding of marketing and writing best practices, including spelling/grammar, style, and tone of voice

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Copywriting and editing

  • Ability to intake a request, determine key stakeholders and develop messaging accordingly 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Workplace Environment:

  • This role will be located at the Home Office headquarters in Houston, TX.

  • Open office layout to promote collaboration, conversation, and teamwork. 
  • Options to work remote/home on Mondays and Fridays.
