The Compliance Division is responsible for tracking Agency compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and other mandates, such as executive orders. The division oversees Agency Health and Safety, Engineering Audit Office and MS4.
Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner for Agency Compliance, with wide latitude for independent judgment and initiative, perform very responsible work in the supervision, planning, implementation, coordination, tracking, monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs.
- Organize and oversee all research functions for the division, including local law compliance, health & safety issues, engineering audit monitoring, data collection and analysis and report preparation.
- Analyze and record all environmental research/investigations related to MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System), IDDE (Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination) cases, DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) spill cases and environmental law violations.
- Regularly evaluate and compile all compliance related datasets.
- Represent the Assistant Commissioner at Agency, interagency and external meetings, presentations and conferences.
- Maintain records, write reports and prepare and conduct presentations. Utilize automated systems and tools to support research and analysis.
- Manage the department’s budget, ensuring fair distribution of funds.
- Oversee direct reports and work with team leaders to address staffing issues and concerns.
- Resolve frequent rapid response items while tracking and progressing long term projects.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
