Job Description

Major Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, and as part of the Borough Commissioner’s administrative team, with latitude for independent initiative and judgement, manage difficult professional work.
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the Staten Island Borough Commissioner’s Office, including overseeing the schedule and organizing meetings for the administration.
- Coordinate the management of the Borough’s capital projects, including liaising with the Capital and Planning divisions, conducting needs assessments, and long-range planning.
- Serve as liaison to City Hall, other City, State and Federal agencies and oversee projects within the Agency on behalf of the Borough Commissioner.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of special events including community presentations and press events, not limited to ribbon-cuttings, groundbreakings, and public ceremonies.
- Conduct research, analyze and synthesize information from across the Agency to prepare and respond to correspondence.
- Work with all divisions within the Agency to solicit and synthesize policy ideas.
- Represent and/or accompany the Borough Commissioner to internal and external meetings.
- Serve as representative for the Chief of Staff as needed, including supervising the staff of the Borough Commissioner’s Office.
- Coordinate special projects as directed by the Borough Commissioner and Chief of Staff.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
