Job Description

Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours
Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Ave, LIC, Queens 11101

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure seeks a Deputy Director for the Borough of Brooklyn. The successful candidate will supervise a staff of Senior Project Administrators, Project Administrators, and Junior Project Administrators responsible for reviewing Capital Project Initiation (CPI) and Preliminary Design Initiation (PDI) reports and establishing project schedule; developing comprehensive project scopes; verifying street legal status and taking appropriate action; monitoring, tracking progress, and resolving issues from pre-design through construction completion; and processing procurement of design and Resident Engineering Inspector (REI) services.

Additionally, the Deputy Director will update and maintain reports for the borough such as the Mayor’s Management Report (MMR), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), outstanding client issues, construction quarterly reports, and commitment plan reports. Other key responsibilities include preparing draft responses for the Commissioner’s C-track correspondence and follow-up on the issues; assisting the Borough Director with the preparation of documents requested by the Commissioner’s Office, such as fact sheets, project information summaries, maps, and sketches for Borough President consultations, and will also attend Community Board and Town Hall meetings; represent the Borough Director in their absence when needed; and will generate data sheets and scoping sketches for budget consultations.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or
2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; two years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for one year of the required experience. However, all candidates must have the two years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
