The NYC Public Engagement Unit (PEU) identifies and executes proactive strategies to connect New Yorkers to key City services. We work on the City’s most impactful policies, including connecting uninsured New Yorkers to social safety net benefits, increasing the supply of apartments available to rental voucher holders, and protecting vulnerable tenants.
PEU uses data to identify the right outreach targets. We seek two early-career Outreach Data Specialists to help implement and report on on-going outreach and community engagement activities. Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, an Outreach Data Specialist assists in developing and planning community programs; provides necessary and important community services; and collaborates with other Outreach Specialists at PEU.
PEU is recruiting two (2) Community Associates to function as Outreach Data Specialists who will:
- Liaise with partners who provide external data sources, including from other City agencies, to
develop outreach plans and target lists for PEU outreach team.
- Train and support PEU staff in the use of various outreach data systems, including the Voter
Activation Network, Salesforce, Hustle and Mobilize.
- Use data to build dashboards, reports and presentations that inform the strategy and execution
of PEU outreach teams.
- Coordinate PEU Outreach Specialists’ contact with NYC residents to address their needs around
housing, healthcare and benefits.
- Record the results of outreach activities in custom-built software systems.
