The Team You’ll Work With:
Situated within the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice (MOERJ) as a companion office to the NYC Young Men’s Initiative (YMI), NYC Her Future will foster positive change and create a brighter future for all young people, with a special focus on young women, girls, and gender expansive people in communities of color across New York City. The announcement is part of “Women Forward NYC,” the city’s $43 million action plan aimed at making New York a national leader on gender equity.
NYC Her Future is an office established to connect young women, girls, and gender expansive youth of color to development opportunities and programs that center empowerment, cultural identity, well-being, and academic and career success. NYC Her Future will build off the success of YMI and work in tandem with YMI to ensure that all NYC youth are advancing and needs are being met equitably.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
Through the creation of this new office, the City has declared its commitment to prioritize young women. This newly created office will develop new programs and policies that are designed to address disparities impacting young women of color and their peers across numerous outcomes related to education, health, employment, and the criminal justice system. These programs and policies break down barriers to success and help young women achieve their professional, educational, and personal goals.
The Program Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager of Programs and Policy r. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Program Strategy and Planning:
- Support the development of the program's objectives, goals, and scope
- Support the data collection system for program reports and milestones, inquiries, and office deliverables
- Support the coordination of special events and meetings
Policy Research and Development:
- Support the development literature reviews, summaries of best practices, and current policy trends in the field
- Maintain an active list relevant policy development federally as well as across other states and municipalities
Stakeholder Management:
- Research new partnerships and funding opportunities (grants)
- Maintain clear communication channels to ensure all stakeholders are informed and engaged
Execution and Monitoring:
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines
- Maintain best practices to address programmatic issues and bottlenecks to keep the program on track
Quality Assurance:
- Enforce quality standards and best practices across projects
- Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure adherence to standards
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare meeting agendas and take meeting notes
- Maintain comprehensive program documentation, including plans, schedules, and project reports
- Maintain the organization’s catalog of reporting documents
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, project management, communication)
- Proven experience as a program manager or project manager with increasing responsibilities
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong copy-editing skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in project management software and tools
- Knowledge of program management frameworks (e.g., PMI's PMP, PgMP, MSP)
- Experience in budget management and financial analysis
- Change management expertise is a plus
- Have a sense of humor
Salary:
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $70,000 – $85,000.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.

New York City Residency Is Required Within 90 Days of Appointment.
1. Graduation from an accredited college with a baccalaureate degree; or
2. Graduation from an accredited community college plus two years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities; or
3. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus four years of experience as described in "2" above; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
