The Division of Disease Control’s mission is to safeguard the health of New Yorkers through identification, surveillance, treatment, control, and prevention of infectious diseases, which is achieved through varied and interrelated endeavors of its seven Bureaus.

The NYC Public Health Laboratory (PHL) is one of the largest local public health laboratories in the United States where employees contribute to the health and safety of NYC residents by providing clinical and environmental laboratory testing services. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH), Public Health Laboratory is seeking to hire a qualified Supervisor of Stock Workers Level II.

Position Summary:


Job Duties and Responsibilities:
-Responsible for the receipt, classification, storage distribution of supplies and equipment at PHL.
- Maintain proper storage and security of laboratory inventory supplies and equipment.
- Prepare media and other supplies for distribution throughout the building.
- Will be assigned to the receiving/stock room of the laboratory.
- Receive, sort, accession and deliver STI and HIV specimens, not limited to outbreak specimens to testing laboratory.
- Other activities include but not limited to: Preparation of shipping boxes and containers; Preparation of shipping documents Packaging of specimens; Delivery of packaged specimens to the courier pickup site in PHL; Emailing the recipient and the provider with courier tracking number.
-Coordinate procurement of supplies.
-Make recommendations regarding disposal of surplus and/or waste.
-Make recommendations and suggestions relating to space, stock control, and delivery.

Two years of full-time satisfactory experience performing storekeeping activities, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
