POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer-in-Training (Sr. EIT) will be responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of engineering calculations for a variety of projects, including municipal, commercial, and residential developments. This role requires a higher level of independence in project management and decision-making. Hydraulic modeling experience is highly preferred and will be a key aspect of the position. The Senior EIT will also be expected to interact directly with clients, conduct site inspections, attend and lead project meetings, and coordinate with stakeholders. Additionally, responsibilities include developing detailed plans, specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and responsibilities Project Involvement
- Take a lead role as Junior Project Manager or Junior Project Engineer in smaller civil engineering projects, including water resources, land development, and municipal infrastructure, ensuring high-quality design and execution.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers, providing technical expertise, overseeing project planning.
Design and Analysis
- Lead in the design of civil engineering systems and components using software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
- Conduct engineering analyses and calculations to support design decision-making for various projects.
Field Operations
- Lead and coordinate fieldwork activities, including site assessments, data collection, surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and relevant codes.
- Supervise and provide technical oversight during construction activities and provide support to ensure that projects are executed according to plans and specifications.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and proposals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
- Contribute to the development of project plans, specifications, and cost estimates, providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Client Interaction
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, effectively communicating project updates, technical information, and addressing inquires to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Provide high-level support to project managers in communicating project timelines and deliverables to clients.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including environmental, structural, and geotechnical engineers, to achieve project objectives.
- Contribute to team meetings, offering insights and recommendations based on analysis and research.
- Mentor and assist other EITs.
Professional Development
- Continuously seek to enhance professional skills and knowledge through training, mentoring, and participation in industry events.
- Prepare for the Professional Engineering (PE) exam to obtain professional licensure.
Ad-Hoc Duties
- Support miscellaneous assignments as needed to meet company goals and client expectations.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited institution.
- EIT-certified with over 5 years of experience, actively preparing for the PE exam or having already passed it but awaiting the required years of experience for full licensure.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, theories, and practices relevant to civil engineering.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) and other relevant analytical tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and interacting with clients and team members.
- Ability to analyze data, perform calculations, and develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Effective teamwork skills, collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other professionals.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in designs, computations, and project documentation.
- Good organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
$75,000 - $85,000 a year
