What is the Role?
Beautification is the name of your game and as an Operations Manager you’re a double agent of aesthetic detail and event planning with all the organizational skills to manage financial tasks for successful execution. Your scholar, family and staff-facing events feel special and you have an eye for how our community experiences your school’s facilities. Everything is taken into consideration: time and task management needed for event planning, building cleanliness, and the systems you need to have in place to organize purchases and inventory. You believe in the reliable systems and routines you create and you will work to ensure all staff can focus on students rather than worrying about materials and supplies.
The OM will be hired by and report to the Director of Operations.
What You’ll Be Asked To Do
Purchasing, Inventory and Financial Management
- Oversee approval process, staff communication and documentation associated with purchasing of school materials, uniforms, technology, and equipment
- Work with Director of Operations to manage and track school expenses against annual budget and forecast future spending needs
- Maximize resources by negotiating and diligently researching pricing on school purchases
- Create and oversee detailed inventory and purchasing systems to ensure the school always has the materials necessary to function without downtime
Compliance and Student Services
- Managing the school nutrition program by collaborating with meal service staff, and executing daily procedures for breakfast, lunch, and snack to ensure compliance and accurate reporting to outside agencies
- Overseeing and optimizing student transportation systems (including yellow school bus transportation and OMNY)
- Ensure ATS is accurate and updated with relevant student transportation data
- Engage in relevant data entry to ensure compliance with various student services (FRPL, vision screenings, etc.)
Facilities and Event Planning
- Relentlessly oversee and maintain the school’s physical condition with a creative mindset
- Ensure that all spaces are neat, organized, beautiful and optimized for their designated use
- Work closely and seamlessly with the school’s custodial team
- Create and maintain teacher-friendly systems for photocopy, lamination, and poster creation
- Planning off-campus field trips and coordinating campus events (such as dances, end-of-year celebrations, etc.)
- Plan community-building events for students, staff, and families
Operational Support
- Contribute to creating a welcoming main office environment for students, families, and staff by providing top-notch customer service
- Respond urgently and in-the-moment to support academic programming and student needs
- Help oversee and execute whole-school systems, including arrival, lunch, dismissal, and transportation (specific duties will vary by campus)
- Assist teammates in planning and executing all student and family events, including family conferences, field trips, high-stakes testing etc.
- Support with all scholar health needs in collaboration with the school’s nurse
- Manage school calendars
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Additional support at the request of the Director of Operations

- Ability to take on physical tasks such as moving boxes, packages, and rearranging furniture
- 1 year or more of operational work in a fast-paced work environment; charter school experience preferred
- Moderate to strong experience with Excel
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Spanish, Cantonese, or Russian proficiency a plus

Benefits and Compensation
- Employees at Coney Island Prep are provided with salaries that are highly competitive, set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills and experiences relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is $75,000 - 80,000.
