The Role
You will be part of a team responsible for delivering the day-to-day operations and facilities services for Connected Places Catapult (CPC). You will be based primarily in Farringdon, London at Connected Places Catapult’s innovation hub, known as the Urban Innovation Centre (UIC). The UIC is home to our largest office and has event spaces where we host a high-quality program of internal activities plus commercial events and exhibitions to successfully engage our current stakeholders and new audiences.
When not based in London, you will help to deliver facilities support, in person and remotely, to our colleagues who are based in Connected Places hubs around the UK.
The role is varied, perfect for a bright, enthusiastic and hardworking individual. It offers a great opportunity to work in fantastic spaces, learn on the job and develop a wide range of skills in Facilities Management.
The nature of this role means it involves a significant amount of manual handling and some travel.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities and Operations:
- Be an ambassador for the Facilities team ensuring that all staff, clients, visitors and contractors receive a warm and professional welcome and great service at the our locations
- Front of House and Reception duties i.e. security passes, stationery orders, couriers, mail, helpdesk enquiries etc.
- Take ownership of the visual standards of our buildings – specifically reception areas, meeting rooms, kitchens and common areas
- Involvement in the delivery of hard and soft Facilities Management (FM) services
- Work closely with third party suppliers and contractors
- Help to deliver FM projects including office moves, refurbishments etc.
- Raise requisitions for the purchase of goods and services via internal system in line with the organisation’s purchasing policy
Health and Safety:
- Be aware of Health and Safety responsibilities and assist with ensuring a safe working environment
- Fire Warden and First Aider duties
Events:
- Carry out meeting room set ups. Involves manual handling – moving and lifting of furniture and equipment
- Help to organize the hospitality service to meeting rooms including preparing, serving and clearing away tea/coffee/catering
- Ad hoc support and attendance at CPC-run events

Essential:
- Proven experience as a Facilities Officer or Coordinator or work in a Facilities setting
- You have a great attitude – friendly, outgoing, positive and confident with strong Customer Service skills/experience
- Experience of soft and hard FM services focusing on Mechanical and Electrical services (M&E)
- Familiar with BMS systems (preferably Trend 365)
- Health & Safety awareness and maintaining safety standards
- You can demonstrate good team-working and problem-solving skills
- You have excellent written and spoken English language skills
- You are a quick and independent thinker
- Able to prioritize tasks and deliver to deadlines with great attention to detail
- You are resilient and can rise to challenges
- You are experienced in carrying out manual handling or physical tasks
- Computer literate with experience of Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- You love organising people, events & spaces
- You are keen to develop and follow a career in Facilities Management
- Fire Warden and First Aid responsibilities
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly as required
- Willing to travel to other sites as required
- 9 day fortnight for everyone, we have a full company shutdown every other Friday.
