DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is currently looking for a FBS Engineer Manager to join their team. The FBS Engineer Manager works as part of the Project Support Services (PSS) Team by providing support at the face of the installation as well as in our factory located at the Port of Alexandria, Louisiana. The Factory Built Substation (FBS) Engineer Manager supports on site installation by performing inspections, training contractors, and blending factory and field methodology.
By using good problem-solving skills, people skills, and mechanical aptitude, this person will make decisions to expedite the installation process. The FBS Specialist will interact with others in a way that builds trust, respect, and loyalty while developing win/win solutions. The FBS Specialist demonstrates knowledge of DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations’ Factory-Built Substations (FBS) Product lines as well as the related technology, tools, and systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop a complete and thorough knowledge of DIS-TRAN’s PFB, and FBS products
- Provide on-site installation support by explaining drawings, installation procedures, finding the root cause of issues and providing an immediate solution. (Field installation support -this includes explaining drawings, installation procedures, and problem solving. Problems typically include broken equipment, incorrect equipment, missing equipment, fabrication errors, etc.)
- Provide on-site inventory services and product inspections (making sure everything arrived undamaged)
- Document project installations by completing field reports and taking photographs
- Obtain field measurements of existing structures and foundations (measuring existing foundations, steel structures, etc.)
- Provide factory support in DIS-TRAN’s Project Services Center, Alexandria, Louisiana**Additional FBS Engineering Manager duties below**
- Personnel management (timesheets, credit card reports, scheduling, development, etc.)
- Interdepartmental project/engineering support (supports marketing, sales, proposals, project management, and engineering in all phases of projects)
- Presentations (on site and remote, to both leadership and construction groups)
- Trade shows (exhibitor and buyer)
- Systems implementation (support systems group and PSS manufacturing)
- Facility planning/IT support/systems administration
- Bridges the gap between Engineering and PSS for process improvement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred, but not required. Minimum of an Associate degree or education from a technical related program (knowledge of circuits, programming etc.).
- In lieu of a degree, experience in manufacturing or construction environments, specifically experience in the electric utility industry and/or experience with aluminum welding and/or experience with substation construction will be considered
- Must possess strong project management and scheduling skills
- Experience or knowledge of DTPS Engineering methods, tools, and standards a plus.
- Strong verbal communication skills, comfortable dealing with customers and field construction personnel
- Strong mechanical aptitude
