Crosstown Plumbing is a successful plumbing store located in East Orange, NJ. We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and detail-oriented Office Support employee for our team! This role serves as the first impression of the company, but is also responsible for processing customer payments and completing daily office tasks, such as stocking the office and answering the phone. You will be responsible for providing customers with the best possible experience, while also managing the cash register and supporting our office staff. Additionally, you must be able to answer customer inquiries, provide basic company information, and balance daily cash register receipts. The ideal candidate must have strong math skills and be comfortable using a calculator.
Please note this role requires weekend hours and mandatory overtime as our store needs constant coverage. Hours during the week are typically 7:30-5:30pm and weekends are 8-3pm. If this sounds of interest to you, please submit your application today!

Job Responsibilities:
- Handle customer payments in-person and over the phone, ensuring the correct payment method is used (credit card, account, cash, or check).
- Build strong relationships with customers and coworkers through professional and friendly communication.
- Maintain a clean and organized office environment, ensuring supplies are stocked for employee use.
- Answer and direct incoming calls with professionalism and courtesy.
- Email necessary customer forms, such as credit applications, account setup documents, and payment authorizations.
- Maintain daily spreadsheets to track monetary transactions and reconcile daily receipts.
- Accurately key in and verify order details, including account name, number, amount, and payment type.
- Coordinate with the sales team to facilitate register pickups, ensuring required signatures are obtained.
- Track and maintain accurate change in the register, notifying the accounting team when adjustments are needed.
- Handle electronic and paper filing, scan delivery records, reconcile accounts, and research/resolve payment discrepancies.
- Provide top-tier service, ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience.
- Assist with other administrative tasks and ad-hoc requests as needed.
- 2+ years of experience in an office support role.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Strong math and calculator skills required for accurate cash handling.
- Experience with high-value transactions, including split payments (cash, credit, etc.), is a plus.
- Ability to efficiently process transactions, balance cash drawers, and maintain financial accuracy.
- Proven ability to deliver excellent service with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with patience and courtesy when handling customer inquiries.
- High level of accuracy in financial transactions and office tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for record-keeping and reporting.
