Position Overview 

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and detail-oriented Account Executive, Public & Government Affairs to join our growing team in Washington D.C. or New York. This junior-level position will play a critical role in supporting the Food & Beverage practice within Edelman’s Public & Government Affairs team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in public affairs, media relations, and digital strategy, with the ability to translate technical content into compelling narratives that resonate with key stakeholders.


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on policymakers, regulatory updates, and political influencers, identifying key targets for client campaigns. 
  • Draft compelling messaging, translate technical content, and assist in stakeholder engagement efforts. 
  • Monitor ongoing media coverage and regulatory developments and compile regular reports. 
  • Support client leaders in tracking client deliverables, timelines, and ensuring timely completion of tasks. 
  • Assist in preparing materials for client presentations and meetings. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute integrated communications and public affairs campaigns across the Food and Beverage network at Edelman. 
  • Stay informed on media trends and digital innovations to enhance client strategies. 
  • Maintain client files and ensure all project details are up-to-date and organized. 
  • Consistently deliver high-quality internal and external content often under tight timelines and with competing priorities. 
  • Work with internal and external partners, including industry coalitions, multinational organizations, and industry working groups. 
  • Develop biographical and policy briefings including conducting research to inform client facing documents. 
  • Build relationships with colleagues at all levels. 


Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in government, NGOs, associations, or private firms leading work related to relevant region or sector. Relevant experience in food policy, the F&B industry, and/or experience in public health is a plus. 
  • A bachelor’s degree  
  • Demonstrated interest in US and global politics, communications, and/or public affairs.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency conducting thorough research, analyzing information, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner.  
  • Knowledge of agriculture, food, nutrition and public health policy in the US and globally. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. 
  • Client and interpersonal skills, proficient at effectively conveying information through various communication channels such as phone, email, and face-to-face interactions. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to tailor messages to different audiences and engage in persuasive communication. 
  • Proactive nature and a willingness to actively contribute and assist in special projects and tasks whenever required. 
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.  
  • Strong writing and editing skills to ensure clarity, persuasion, and polish for content, documents, and other written materials. 
  • Digital literacy using social and digital tools, channels, and platforms that drive public affairs activities with clients. 
  • Advanced proficiency in AI tools (ChatGPT), Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.


$55,000 - $68,000 a year
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
