Job Summary

Morae Packaging is looking for a Packaging Engineer, reporting to our General Manager - USA. This highly collaborative role will lead the packaging development process from concept to production. The Packaging engineer is responsible for developing best-in-class products that meet or exceed cost, quality, functional, and aesthetic requirements. This role will also oversee the development of our sister brand's packaging.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the complete packaging development and commercialization process, including performance testing and internal item setup.
• Work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize packaging for cost, timing, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
• Troubleshoot new and existing packaging issues involving designs, materials, and processes while providing creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
• Analyze engineering drawings and product specifications to determine the items' physical characteristics, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and efficiency tools to ensure that packaging exceeds brand and customer expectations.
• Review and coordinate packaging sample approvals and feedback between cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Effectively communicate project status to leadership and/or cross-functional teams.
• Liaise between internal resources and vendors to execute product development.
• Lead cross-functional teams from a product’s conception through to its launch.
• Manage multiple product categories and customer scope, which require coordination of differing timelines, processes, and teams, including but not limited to componentry, process engineering, and customer service team.

• Bachelor’s degree in product designing, packaging, or related engineering fields.
• 4+ years of experience in an industrial or consumer packaging development role.
• Experience in developing lifestyle/beauty/cosmetic packaging.
• Knowledge of product development concepts, practices, and procedures, including manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Works collaboratively but also takes complete ownership of projects.
• Embodies a “no task in too small” attitude.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
