Job Summary
Morae Packaging is looking for a Sr. Packaging Engineer, reporting to our General Manager - USA. This highly collaborative role will lead the packaging development process from concept to production. The Sr. Packaging engineer is responsible for developing best-in-class products that meet or exceed cost, quality, functional, and aesthetic requirements. The Sr. Packaging Engineer will also be required to collaborate with chemists from our sister company to conduct compatibility testing on their packaging.
Reponsibilities
- Oversee and manage the complete package development and commercialization process, including the performance testing, and internal item setup.
- Work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize packaging for cost, timing, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Troubleshoot new and existing packaging issues involving designs, materials, and processes while providing creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
- Validate engineering drawings and specifications of products to determine physical characteristics of the items, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
- Responsible for creating testing protocols and implementing efficiency tools to ensure technical readiness.
- Review and validate stock components, as well as critical dimension checks for custom tooled components.
- Secure alignment with the Morae Korea Sr. Packaging Engineer on custom tooled components.
- Effectively communicate project status to leadership and/or cross-functional teams.
- Liaise between internal resources and vendors to execute package development.
- Lead cross-functional teams from a product’s conception, all the way through to its launch.
- Manage multiple product categories and customer scope, which require coordination of differing timelines, processes, and teams including, but not limited to, componentry, process engineering, and customer service team.
- Bachelor’s degree in product designing, packaging, or related engineering fields.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial or consumer packaging development role.
- Experience in developing lifestyle/beauty/cosmetic packaging.
- Knowledge of product development concepts, practices, and procedures including manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, SolidWorks and CAD.
- Works collaboratively but also takes complete ownership of projects.
- Embodies a “no task in too small” attitude.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
