How you’ll play a part:

As a Digital Platform Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital presence of The Scots Magazine. Your responsibilities include researching, pitching, and producing engaging features informed by search and social data, leading digital production best practices within the editorial team, and overseeing the development and maintenance of the digital membership platform. You will work collaboratively across teams to deliver impactful and audience-focused digital content that aligns with the magazine's goals, using your digital insights and influence as a trusted colleague to shift commissioning to be more digitally influenced over time.

What you’ll deliver:

  • Content creation & strategy

o Research and analyse search and social data to identify trending topics that overlap with reader needs

o Pitch and produce high-quality, engaging features tailored to digital platforms

o Monitor performance metrics and refine strategies to optimise audience engagement and retention

  • Mentoring & skills development

o Lead the implementation of digital production best practices within the editorial team

o Provide training and support to upskill colleagues on digital tools and techniques

  • Platform management

o Take end-to-end responsibility for the development, maintenance, and optimisation of The Scots Magazine digital membership platform

o Ensure a seamless, user-friendly experience that supports audience growth and subscriptions

  • Collaboration & communication

o Collaborate effectively with the editorial team and the wider features department to align digital strategies with overall objectives

o Partner with designers, marketers, and technical teams to execute cohesive digital campaigns

What you’ll bring:

  • Essential

o Proven experience in digital content creation, analytics, and audience engagement

o Strong knowledge of SEO, social media trends, and performance analysis

o Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and digital production tools

o Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills

o Ability to independently manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Desirable

o Experience managing membership or subscription-based platforms

o Familiarity with the Scottish cultural landscape and The Scots Magazine audience

o Skills in multimedia production, such as video editing or podcasting

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week. This is a hybrid role offering a blend of home and office working from our Meadowside/Dundee, Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow Office.
