The Sales Account Executive will lead and manage a team of sales professionals to achieve specified sales targets for Delta Dental of Idaho's pre-paid dental benefits products. In conjunction with the VP of Sales & Account Management, the Sales Account Executive will devise sales strategies and guide their team to winning and retaining groups for extended relationships with DDID.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversight of Sales and Account Management staff, based on territory, including leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing sales team.
- Develop and execute new and renewal business strategy for all-sized groups, targeting growth and retention of a high percentage of all assigned segments.
- Directly responsible for prospective groups starting at 100 employees, and actively managing strategic accounts.
- Review at-risk groups (potential coverage terminations) with urgency with the VP, Sales & Account Management, and Underwriting to ensure every opportunity to retain the account has been explored and exhausted.
- Effectively explain and review renewal presentations for large groups, including reports, with existing client groups and associated producers offering recommendations to clients based on analysis of clients’ insurance needs.
- Develop and lead solution development and account performance while collaborating and coordinating departments and individuals across the organization.
- Extract data, conduct analytics, and translate findings into recommended and relevant strategies and initiatives.
- Negotiate renewals with producers and underwriting.
- Cultivate relationships by making regular visits to both producers and current group accounts assigned in Delta Dental’s sales tracking system.
- Provide market feedback to DDID to enhance product development, underwriting logic, and competitive positioning.
- Update and educate producers on our products and differentiated value using marketing materials to promote the company and its focus on improving oral health and wellness.
- Ensure credibility with clients by remaining informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislative changes, coverages, and technology.
- Participate in business community events to network and support our Delta Dental of Idaho brand promise.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years experience in the health insurance industry in a sales or account management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of the dental benefits marketplace, dental plans, and products.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, communicate effectively through business correspondence, and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience building and motivating a high-performing sales team.
- Results-oriented, with a strong focus on achieving sales targets and business objectives.
- Must possess or obtain an Idaho producer license in Health & Disability through the state insurance exam within 30 days of employment.
- Competency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel as required.
