Position summary:

Electrical controls estimating engineer responsible for defining electrical controls hardware and control architectures for small, medium, and large-scale material handling systems.  Ability to review mechanical layouts and motor manifests of material handling systems and define electrical controls hardware to operate these systems per customer specifications and operational requirements. These are conveyor systems and/or related equipment used in the Material Handling Industry (Freight/Parcel, Baggage Handling, Warehouse Distribution, & Manufacturing). [FXG, UPS, Amazon, Automotive].  Responsibility includes developing material lists and bills of materials to be used in the estimating and pricing process and providing cost and device totals for the controls equipment needed for the proposals and estimating functions.  Requires collaboration with multiple team members as well as other teams in Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Management.

 

Experience with controls hardware and equipment such as sensors, PLCs, control panels, VFDs, motor control, HMI and SCADA, networks, scanning, and RFID equipment.  Experience with defining system control architectures for small to medium scale system.  Familiarity with Industrial Software such as Ignition, Wonderware, Indusoft, and/or RSView development is a plus.  Experience (3 years + preferred) with Rockwell RSLogix and ControlLogix platforms is a must along with knowledge of Ethernet/IP communications, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and other industrial control networks.

 

 

Tasks:

  Confer with sales engineers, project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope and design requirements.

  Prepare detailed and complete controls hardware pricing estimates and comply with the system design drawings required to implement the project scope as per project specifications and ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.

  Aid in the development of customer proposals and pricing estimates.

  Work to assigned bid due dates and proposal completion deadlines.

  Work with company provided pricing tools and assist in the improvement and enhancement of those tools.

  Great communication skills are required to communicate designs, ideas, and pricing information to other team members and functional groups.

  Travel to job sites as required for design review, concepts, or site evaluations may be required (up to 10%-15% per year).

 

 

 

 

Skills:

  Experience – Knowledgeable of Motor Driven Live Roller (MDR), power and electrical load calculations, UL and NEC codes, familiar with UPS, FXG, Amazon specifications is a plus.

  Ability to work within and function well with project teams and other programmers who may be assigned to the same or similar projects.
