Sales Engineer- Mineral Processing

Job Purpose:

  • Understanding mining customer needs and aligning magnetic separation product offerings with their requirements.
  • Providing mining customers with magnetic separation technical expertise and guidance throughout the sales process.
  • Guiding magnetic separation product testing for mining applications and delivering compelling presentations to showcase the value of Eriez’ solutions.
  • Collaborating with the mining sales team (internal and external) to identify and qualify sales opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Contributing to sales strategies, pricing decisions and contract negotiations based on technical considerations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Represent Eriez as the subject matter expert for magnetic separation technologies used inthe mining industry, including technical features, functionalities and benefits
  • Study mining customer needs, pain points and business challenges and create customized sales proposals for magnetic separation equipment
  • Guide the planning and execution of magnetic separation product testing at Eriez’ facility and customer sites to showcase key features and functionalities and address technical questions and concerns from customers
  • Provide pre-sales support by answering technical inquiries and participating in sales meetings
  • Liaise with the engineering or technical team to address technical concerns or requirements
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation, including technical specifications and product training sessions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather technical requirements and ensure the successful implementation of solutions
  • Provide post-sales support to customers, including technical troubleshooting and customer training, ensuring their satisfaction with the product or service
  • Give active feedback and insights from the market to the product development and marketing teams
  • Participate in sales meetings, trade shows and industry events to promote Eriez’ mining products and services
  • Conduct sales training of fellow team members, customers, agents and affiliates as appropriate.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mineral processing, metallurgy, chemical or materials science)
  • 5+ years’ experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role
  • Strong technical background and ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrable experience in presenting technical products and services to customers, providing expert advice and troubleshooting customer queries
  • Understanding of commercial terms and conditions for sale of equipment and services
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel)

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge in magnetic separation products and applications, including upstream and downstream material handling considerations.
  • Technical knowledge of flotation products and applications.
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales management tools.
  • Experience creating technical content, such as conference presentations, whitepapers and marketing materials.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Well-established network in the mining/metallurgical sector within the Americas.
  • Language proficiency in multiple languages to cater to a diverse customer base.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing.
