Analyst, Risk Analytics & Reporting

Who we are:

Financeit is a point-of-sale financing provider serving some of the largest home improvement and retail organizations in Canada.

Our platform helps businesses close more sales by offering customers affordable monthly payment options for their next big home improvement, vehicle or retail purchase.

We are small enough that you can make an impact within the company and large enough to make an impact in the market.

Financeit is a company where collaboration, inclusivity, fairness, and respect aren’t just ideas that get talked about, but are part of who we are. If such a workplace intrigues you, we hope you’ll join us.

About the role:

Do you love diving into data, solving problems with tech, and learning how fintechs get funded by lenders? Are you equally skilled at balancing deep thinking with pragmatic execution, and always delivering on time?

If you’re ready to take your strategic thinking, advanced analytic skills, and knack for digging into the details to the next level, while leaving your mark on a rapidly growing organization, we want to hear from you!

As the Analyst of Risk Analytics & Reporting, you’ll work under the direction of the Director - Risk Analytics, Data Science & Reporting to deliver precise forecasts, accurate reporting, and actionable analysis and insights. You'll also play a key role in building new capabilities, automating processes, and arming leadership and stakeholders across the business with the information and advice needed to win.

If bouncing between building predictive forecasts, responding to urgent leadership requests, and crafting executive-level insights excites you, then you’re the dynamic adaptable analyst we’re looking for! Just make sure to bring your communication “A-game” along with your driven personality and aptitude for solving problems. Translating complex data into impactful stories is no small feat. Oh, and yes, being fun matters. A lot.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and refine predictive tools, triggers and monitoring systems covering merchant (channel partner) credit, behaviour and fraud losses across products, segments, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver high-quality daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual Loss Forecasts, Sector (e.g., Industry), Partner, and Operational (e.g. Chargebacks, Fraud) reports on time for Senior Management.
  • Design, build, and improve dashboards, data sets, and analytics using tools like Python, SQL, and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
  • Go beyond the reporting to analyze trends, anomalies, and key issues to connect data to real-world events, industry trends and individual company behavior to draw actionable business insights conveyed through compelling storytelling.
  • Continuously improve efficiency by identifying quality, well-managed data sources and opportunities to apply automation, data pipelines, and AI to the generation of reports and insights.
  • Craft compelling stories and visualizations from complex data that resonate with executives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and goals to proactively ensure they have the analytics and insights needed to succeed.
  • Participate in strategic projects and initiatives related to risk management.
  • Document requirements, maintain wikis, and ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Foster a team culture rooted in dedication, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Bring energy, positivity, a critical eye, unimpeachable integrity, a team-first attitude, and a desire to contribute to building something great, together.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Applied Math or Applied Sciences, Finance, or other quantitative discipline.
  • 2+ years of full-time or internship/PEY experience in analytics, data science, strategy, risk management or finance, focused on analytics, predictive modeling, insights, and reporting is an asset.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in analytics or reporting with expertise in forecasting, data mining, and delivering business insights.
  • 2+ years of applied experience in building advanced models, creating executive-level presentations with Excel and PowerPoint, and automating data pipelines and processes.
  • Advanced skills in data manipulation, visualization, and modeling, with proficiency in Python, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau).
  • Experience conducting complex indirect lending / small business credit risk, fraud risk, or business analysis & reporting at a financial institution, a strong asset.
  • Strong strategic thinking, judgment, communication (verbal, visual, and written), with advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Legitimately curious and passionate about finding the “right answer,” with a detail-oriented mindset and a “healthy sense of paranoia” about quality.
  • Highly organized and driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Balanced sense of pride and humility, thriving in a collaborative environment and bringing energy and enthusiasm to team culture.
