The Girls Who Code Work Prep program is a three week program for college-aged women and non-binary participants who are pursuing careers in the tech industry. Designed to build career skills and confidence, Work Prep offers participants practical, hands-on experience with a specific company’s unique technology, processes, employees, and culture. Participants virtually engage in synchronous sessions two times a week that give them a deep dive into different topics and technical experiences and complete asynchronous tasks in between sessions. This program is intended to spark participants’ professional growth.
This is a part time (up to 20 hours per week), remote, temporary position starting 4/7/25 and ending 8/1/25.
Please note: Interviews for these positions will not begin until after January 1, 2025.
Responsibilities:- Leading a cohort of up to 120 participants through the Work Prep program
- Managing the preparation of all participant-facing materials by updating and copy editing templates
- Updating documentation for program implementation with partner-specific information
- Copy editing and ensuring alignment with the curriculum for all participant-facing communications
- Facilitating all virtual synchronous sessions (twice a week for three weeks)
- Providing logistical support to participants and corporate partners
- Leading weekly meetings and pre-session check-ins with corporate partners to prepare volunteers, speakers, and partner materials
- Escalating participant and partner concerns or issues as needed
Key Dates and Estimated Hours:- Candidates must be able to commit to both Work Prep rounds and must be available at the following synchronous times to lead the sessions.
- Round 1: May 28th-June 16th
- Synchronous sessions on Mondays/Wednesdays from 3:30-6 pm ET
- Round 2: July 8th - July 24th
- Synchronous sessions on Tuesday/Thursdays from 3:30-6 pm ET
- Candidates must have the ability to commit to the hour requirements below. (Hours include synchronous Zoom meetings and asynchronous tasks)
- The amount of synchronous meeting time on Zoom expected week by week varies as outlined below
- All required meetingswill be scheduled between 2 and 6 pm ET Monday-Friday
- Asynchronous tasks may be completed at the Lead’s discretion provided that they are finished by the specified deadline
- 4/7-4/25: Onboarding Training Sessions and Tasks ~ 10 hours/week (2 hrs/week synchronous time)
- 4/28-5/28: Pre-Program Prep Time ~ 15 hours/week (2 hours/week synchronous time)
- 5/28-7/24: In Program Work Time ~ 20 hours/week (6 hours/week synchronous time)
- 7/28-8/1: Post-Program Wrap Up ~10 hours (2 hours synchronous time)
Qualifications:- 3 years of experience working with groups of college aged students or young adults (classes, workshops, events, etc.)
- Experience with students in college or a job readiness program preferred
- Experience with facilitating large group activities and discussions virtually on Zoom
- Ability to foster a welcoming, engaging and brave space for young adults
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Experience working with corporate partners
- Confident in ability to quickly learn and navigate new platforms
- Reliable, strong internet connection and access to a computer (one will not be provided)
- Service-minded with a helpful approach
- Proactive, candid communicator
- Passion for our mission to close the gender gap in technology fields through a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience or knowledge of the tech industry, computer science, or adjacent fields (preferred)
- Coding experience is not required
$30 - $30 an hour
