Job Description

This position is in support of the Influx Care Facility located in Carrizo Springs, TX.  The purpose of the facility is to provide comprehensive care for migrant youths ages 13 to 17 in the Care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) who are awaiting reunification or repatriation.  This care will begin as soon as the youths arrive at the facility and last until their arranged departure with family or sponsors. The comprehensive care includes but is not limited to initial screening and exams, identifications of prior conditions and allergies, day to day care of routine, urgent and emergency medical conditions. 

The Quality Assurance Health Compliance Specialist is an essential role in the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement, patient safety, process improvement and training throughout the project.  Under the direction of the Deputy Director of nursing, the Quality Assurance Health Compliance Specialist assists with the management of quality measures for the project and compliance with regulatory, internal International Health and Medical Services, and any other programs deemed essential for quality care and patient safety by project leadership. They work with the Program Clinical Leadership to improve patient engagement, actively engages with the clinical leadership and staff to provide guidance and monitor workflow processes and assists with the development and implementation of strategies focused on quality improvement goals.  

Key Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Chief Medical Officer, facilitates activities related to quality and performance improvement programs in accordance with the requirements of International Health and Medical Service’s CQMP. 
  • Responsible for general orientation and in-service education for all levels of medical personnel, and for coordination of in-service programs for all departments. 
  • Responsible for becoming one of the super-users for our EMR and for general orientation of the cloud-based program for the staff. 
  • Supports the reporting of data to outside agencies. 
  • Supports project leadership with training and development of clinical competencies and ensuring these are completed annually. 
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment 
  • Performance of other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of two (3) years’ experience in a hospital setting. 
  • Experience in quality improvement and management in a hospital or ambulatory setting preferred. 
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). 

Experience Preferred: 

  • Experience working on ORR programs Preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Must possess a current Texas state license or a compact state license, if applicable. 
  • Bachelor's or higher in relevant field (nursing, allied health, pharmacy, lab scientist, etc.). 
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS). 
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. 
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred. 
  • Experience in Pediatrics, Medical Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Pediatric Emergency Room settings is strongly preferred. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a permanent resident card. 
  • Current MRPT Clearance preferred. 
  • Eligible to receive a federal tier II clearance and Pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Check.  
  • Must be able to relocate to site for duration of the contract. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.

 Compensation|  Min: $23hr        Max: $37hr
