WHO WE ARE

Intrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Our 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. We are an open-enrollment school, which means that our scholars do not have to take an entrance test or pay tuition to enroll.

Qualifications:

- Holds a B.S. / B.A degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5

- High level of professionalism and organization

- Well organized with strong time management practices

- Preferably 3-5 years of secondary teaching experience (preferred but not required)

- Speaks Spanish (highly preferred) and/or has experience working with Spanish speaking students & families


WHAT YOU'LL DO


Scheduling and Enrollment:

- Owns family/student communication around course catalog, graduation requirements, pathways, and transcripts.

- Alongside OA/IA Ops teams, leads introductory scheduling sessions with 8th graders and 10th graders; possibly coordinates family meetings.

- Promote IA to families at every opportunity as the best high school in SE Nashville for academics and student experience.

- Guide interested families through the application and paperwork process; follow-up on missing paperwork or transfer requests.

- Communicate new student schedules and information to teachers

- Manage updates to the Year-Long Enrollment Tracker for withdrawals and new students

- Track students flagged for risk and retention concerns alongside Culture and Counseling teams; schedule and attend family meetings

- In collaboration with Culture team, schedule and complete exit interviews for those withdrawing/transferring for reasons other than moving out of county/zone

A. In collaboration with support team, upload and complete withdrawal/transfer requests after family exit interview

- Manage and own the system for updating, storing, receiving, and transferring student cume files


Assessment:

- Create and lead implementation of assessment logistics for quarterly Interims (Illuminate/DnA), TCAP, ACT/Pre-ACT, and ELPA.

- Roster students and assign staff online for above assessments

- Ensure staff are trained on test security, platforms, and assessment logistics and have signed appropriate forms

- Maintain security and organization of test materials prior to and after test days; re-organize and ship off materials as needed

- Attend building test coordinator and other relevant trainings

- Lead distribution of student assessment reports and family communication for assessments


Grading:

- Quarterly Report Card Pick-up – pull/organize data; send communications to families; assign ownership and deadline to staff. Share honor roll information with Culture. Print and distribute report cards.

- Biweekly progress reports (slips) – print, sort, distribute

- Manage gradebook through biweekly gradebook audits 

A. Communicate gradebook concerns or trends to leaders and GLTs; share data analysis  with content and grade team leaders

B. Communicate deadline and manage locking gradebooks each quarter/semester

- Train and assign leaders for gradebook entry into Infinite Campus (IC) for S1/S2

- Enter Dual Enrollment and other external grades into IC


Credit Recovery:

- Each semester and as new students are enrolled, audit transcripts to determine the need for credit recovery. Communicate/meet with families and students impacted, and roster students into the correct courses in Edgenuity. 

- Regularly track and communicate progress of students to families (and EE/EL case managers, if applicable); flag for senior leaders which students are at risk of not graduating on time.


Attendance/Truancy:

- Pull weekly absence and tardy reports and enter students hitting thresholds into tracker (5 days absent, 10 days absent, etc.)

A. Identify those frequently tardy to school to parents and message parents

- Send truancy letters and TalkingPoints messages to families for students hitting thresholds 

- Schedule and lead Attendance Plan meetings with families and students

- Own the truancy court process as needed

- Celebrate those showing improvement and those with perfect attendance

- Share truancy data and communicate those on plans regularly with grade level and Culture leaders


Technology:

- Track and manage the Chromebook cart, calculator, and headphone request system. 

A. This includes student requests for loaner computers or graphing calculators – tracking numbers and returns. 

B. Oversee monthly audits of Chromebook carts, providing feedback to coaches to resolve stewardship concerns

- Maintain storage and repair of returned or damaged staff laptops, chargers, headphones, cameras, or Chromebooks

- Address issues with projectors, HDMI cords, laptops, student logins in the moment

- Create and turn on alternate bell schedules for testing, events, etc.

- Create and reset student emails/passwords and staff accounts 

- Request app updates and additions as well as lockdown browsers through TechLab

- Manage vendor relationship and troubleshooting with TechLab

- Create new staff or student badges, input card numbers into NetAXS, and send badge #’s to the People & Strategy department


Families + Students:

- Send regular communication to families regarding upcoming assessments or other important events

- Schedule and/or design social media posts as additional touch-point for all communications

- Hang flyers and/or input morning announcements for upcoming assessments or other items related to role


Ops Team Player:

- Support Ops team members as needed – answering doorbell, phone, and family/student requests; finding students for dismissal; unjamming copiers and refilling paper; providing lunch breaks; setting up for test days.

- Cover front office at least 3 hours/week

- Attend weekly Ops team meetings and full staff PDs as required

- Assist with key operational systems – arrival, lunch, dismissal – and acts as a stand-in for absent staff as needed

- Responsible for maintaining organization of:

1. Ops Closet (security and storage of test materials)

2. Ops office cabinets

3. FO Tech Closet

- Assist with event set-up (during and after school)

- Hang flyers and other signage throughout the building, and removes those that are outdated

- Establish strong relationships and trust with students, families, and staff

- Model excellent customer service, safety, and kind honesty with vendors, external partners, staff and families.

- Address building safety concerns in the moment – e.g. spills, clogged toilets, stuck paper towels, adjusting A/C, flipping breakers.


$61,000 - $113,000 a year
The leadership salary scale is based on position and years of related experience. The range above indicates the starting salary of a Dean and the maximum salary of an Assistant Principal.

Compensation

We offer a generous compensation package, including full health benefits.  All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. Compensation is highly competitive; teachers are eligible to participate in the MNPS Retirement System.


Base salaries are determined by the ICP salary scale. Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color. Placement on the salary scale is solely determined by relevant experience.


Starting salary (Year 0) for a teacher with zero years of experience starts at $51,292. Please reach out to the hiring team for inquires regarding the salary scale.
