People Experience Project Coordinator

The People Experience Project Coordinator is a hybrid role combining hands-on HR operations with strategic project delivery. You’ll support the full employee lifecycle in South Africa — from onboarding, payroll preparation, and performance reviews, to employee relations and compliance — while also helping lead key cross-functional people projects. 

This is a role for someone who thrives in complexity, is eager to grow, and wants to drive impact from day one. You’ll act as a strategic enabler for the People team while laying the foundations to grow into a future People Partner position.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & People Initiatives

  • Lead and support the rollout of strategic HR projects and initiatives across functions (e.g. policy harmonization, benefits mapping, or retention efforts).
  • Collaborate closely with People Partners across regions (South Africa, Nigeria, Malta, etc.) to ensure projects are aligned and scalable across markets.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (Marketing, Talent Acquisition, Business Leaders) to ensure delivery and alignment of projects to business priorities.
  • Build clear documentation, scalable processes, and communication materials that support project implementation and adoption.
  • Track progress, flag blockers, and ensure consistent execution across teams and locations.

 Employee Experience & Culture

  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance the employee lifecycle and embed our CROWNS values into daily ways of working
  • Support the creation of employee-facing materials, guides, and experiences that foster engagement, clarity, and ownership.
  • Collaborate with local managers and the People team to ensure a consistent and positive employee experience in South Africa and other regions.

People & Culture

  • Help embed our CROWNS values into daily practices and internal processes.
  • Create materials and experiences that enhance culture, ownership and clarity for employees.
  • Partner closely with managers and stakeholders to ensure consistency and alignment
  • Develop a deep understanding of our culture, processes, and people strategy with a view to stepping into a People Partner role in the future.
  • Bring a learning mindset, seek feedback, and continuously improve based on data, feedback, and outcomes.

People Operations

  • Support and manage core HR processes including:
  • Payroll preparation & inputs
  • Compensation administration
  • Onboarding & offboarding
  • Performance reviews & improvement plans
  • Day-to-day employee support and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with South African employment laws and internal policies.
  • Act as the local go-to for HR-related matters in South Africa, coordinating with central teams when needed.
  • 4-6 years of HR or People Operations experience (in-house, not consulting).
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR compliance in South Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience across core HR areas: payroll inputs, onboarding, employee relations, performance, compensation.
  • Proven experience leading or contributing to HR-related projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.
  • Strong alignment with KingMakers' CROWNS values.
