Chief Operating Officer (1425)

Kooner Fleet Management Solutions is seeking a visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational strategy and execution for our growing fleet maintenance company. Reporting to the CEO, Vice President, & Assistant Vice President, the COO will be responsible for optimizing day-to-day operations, scaling the business, and ensuring high-quality service. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep experience in operational efficiency, logistics, and customer service within the fleet or transportation maintenance industry.

What the COO role looks like: 

Operations  

  • Oversee and optimize daily dispatch operations to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high service standards. Work closely with the Customer Service Center Manager.  
  • Implement and refine dispatch operating procedures to enhance team performance and reduce errors. 
  • Develop and execute strategies for scalability while maintaining operational excellence. 
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as ETA’s, fleet and technician utilization, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Improve fleet management processes, including working with the fleet managers to ensure maintenance scheduling, compliance, and driver performance management. 
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline dispatching, tracking, and reporting. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal safety standards. 

Sales & Business Development 

  • Develop and lead a sales strategy to expand Kooner Fleet Management Solutions’ customer base. 
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities. 
  • Strengthen existing customer relationships through effective account management, ensuring customer retention and satisfaction. 
  • Work closely with the CEO/VP to negotiate contracts and pricing agreements that drive profitability. 
  • Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to adjust sales approaches accordingly. 
  • Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and secure partnerships. 

Financial & Performance Management 

  • Oversee operational budgets, ensuring cost control and resource allocation for maximum efficiency. 
  • Monitor revenue growth, sales performance, and cost efficiencies, identifying opportunities for profitability improvement. 
  • Work with the finance team to develop accurate forecasting models and assess business risks. 
  • Implement a data-driven approach to measure dispatch performance, driver productivity, and fleet efficiency. 

Leadership & Team Management 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the dispatch, sales, HR, and operations teams to improve performance and accountability. 
  • Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on continuous improvement, customer service, and teamwork. 
  • Ensure proper training and development programs for dispatchers and sales representatives. 
  • Implement workforce planning strategies to scale operations effectively. 

Human Resources & Workforce Development 

  • Oversee and manage the HR department, ensuring effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top talent. 
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to foster a positive workplace culture. 
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, industry regulations, and company policies. 
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management, and professional development initiatives. 
  • Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts to build a strong, inclusive team. 
  • Handle employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions as needed. 

Strategic Leadership, Growth & Expansion 

  • Collaborate with the CEO/VP to develop and execute expansion strategies in new markets. 
  • Lead the digital transformation of fleet tracking, customer communication, and operational automation. Work with our current IT team to introduce our new in-house proprietary software to our operations seamlessly.  
  • Evaluate and introduce new service offerings to differentiate the company in the market and to make Kooner Fleet Management Solutions stand out from competitors. 
  • Explore and identify new business opportunities for partnerships and alliances that align with Kooner Fleet Management Solutions’ growth objectives. 

People & Culture Development 

  • Build and foster a high-performance culture focused on service excellence. 
  • Develop training programs and career growth opportunities for employees. 
  • Ensure strong recruitment, retention, and workforce planning strategies. 
  • Promote a safe, productive, and inclusive work environment. 

 

What our ideal candidate looks like: 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within the fleet maintenance industry, required.

Leadership and Management

  • Proven ability to lead large teams, delegate tasks effectively, and inspire others to achieve goals. 

Strategic Thinking

  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex business situations and develop effective strategies. 

Operational Excellence

  • Expertise in process improvement, lean methodologies, and driving operational efficiency. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing business needs.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 

Financial Acumen

  • Understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and financial forecasting.

Industry Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the industry landscape, market trends, and competitive dynamics. 

Work Environment:  

  • Standard office setting  
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs  
  • Must be able to sit for up to 4 hours at a time  
  • Travel required.
