Summary: Senior Research Associate in Upstream Process Development responsible for executing complex cell culture experiments, maintaining cell lines, optimizing culture conditions, analyzing data, and contributing to development projects with a high level of expertise in aseptic techniques and cell biology. Involved in troubleshooting complex issues, requiring a strong understanding of cell culture principles, proficiency with various cell culture techniques, and experience with data analysis and scientific writing.
Scope of Responsibilities
· All aspects of mammalian cell culture including, aseptic technique, media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, propagation.
· Culturing and purifying different cell types including iPSC and MSC cells.
· Use of bioreactor systems.
Cell transfection, transduction, and other genetic manipulation techniques.
Primary human cell isolations, genetic modifications, expansion and cryopreservation
· Performance of general laboratory tasks, including maintenance of equipment
· Maintain accurate and reliable records including database management, batch records, lab notebooks, and all other pertinent documentation.
· Writing and/or contributing to SOPs, batch records, protocols and reports.
· Comply with all safety and infection control standards.
· This is a hands-on lab-based position requiring a flexible schedule based on experimental work (some weekend work may be required).
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in biology, bioengineering, biotechnology, or related discipline with 2 years relevant experience.
· Strong understanding of tissue culture and aseptic technique.
· Willingness to work with different viral vector systems (lentiviral and AAV) and biological samples.
· Strong team worker who is also independently motivated, detail oriented and possesses good problem-solving capabilities.
· Strong verbal and written skills; able to handle confidential information and material appropriately.
· Background in bioreactors and/or cell-based methods preferred.
