What You’ll Be Doing as a CNC Laser Programmer (ME Tech 2):

Apply advanced technical skills and knowledge to support production and new product introduction (NPI) by assisting in moderately complex developing, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing processes to achieve high quality and reliability at reasonable costs.  Communicate with other manufacturing and engineering disciplines on issues and opportunities related to safety, design for manufacturing (DFM), total productive maintenance, capacity, and cost.

• Assists in analysis of complex new components for ease of manufacture.  Works with Manufacturing Engineers and Design Engineering on moderately complex projects to ensure a reasonable and cost-effective design.
• ·Provides and maintains moderately complex documentation by processing DCOs for manufacturing to support production.
• Troubleshoots and improves existing processes to achieve better quality at reduced costs.
• Works with Tool Design Engineers to design and implement new conventional fixtures, tooling and processes.
• Analyzes and initiates moderately complex Document Change Orders (DCOs), internal/external audits, and training programs.  Initiates more complex analysis and implementations.
• Assists Quality group in integrating Statistical Process Control (SPC) practices into process development.
• Assists in the development, testing, and implementation of new processes and equipment.
• Program a variety of high precision Computer Numerical Control (CNC) laser engraving machines.
• Applies “Lean” manufacturing practices in process development.
• Assists Maintenance to troubleshoot and correct machine failures.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance tasks on laser machines.
• Maintains safe work environment and employs ergonomically safe practices into manufacturing processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experiences You’ll Need as a CNC Laser Programmer (ME Tech 2):

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of work-related experience in basic machining operations, assembly or quality assurance processes and procedures.  Drafting and CAD practices preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Able to use computer software tools for effective design/process analysis and presentations.
• Requires a full knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Performs tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
• Knowledge and use of appropriate safety and personal protective equipment required.
• May be required to operate light tools and basic machinery such as laser engravers, presses, electric torque fasteners and other manufacturing equipment.

Work Environment for a CNC Laser Programmer (ME Tech 2):

Normal office environment with exposure to manufacturing operations.
