The Flight Hardware Technician at LTA Research is essential to ensuring the quality and functionality of components for "lighter than air" vehicles. This role involves inspecting, assembling, and maintaining flight hardware, performing precise repairs, and adhering to aerospace standards. It requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and teamwork to support innovative missions and ensure operational success.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough audits and inspections of incoming shipments of flight hardware, ensuring accuracy and completeness of items and associated documentation.
- Identify and categorize items as Flight Hardware (FHW) and submit FHW Check-ins for tracking purposes.
- Manage outgoing Flight hardware shipments, including scheduling, preparation, and physical drop-offs.
- Update Wrike cards with precise documentation for all shipments across all LTA sites.
- Maintain organized physical and digital records of all shipment-related documentation.
- Create accurate records and profiles within the Veryon system for Flight hardware items.
- Ensure proper labeling and staging of flight hardware items within the flight hardware department.
- Assist with procurement of FHW requests and returns when necessary.
- Update the Veryon system with correct quantity usage for each request, maintaining accurate digital records in relation to physical inventory.
- Conduct regular audits of physical inventory to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Place orders for materials and items to ensure uninterrupted workflow in other departments.
- Develop SOPs and work instructions for the flight hardware and Production - - Departments in Mountain View, Gardnerville, and Akron.
- Prepare traveler documentation for manufactured goods.
- Provide support to all departments in Gardnerville, Mountain View, and Akron during necessary or downtime periods.
- Ensure adherence to proper manufacturing processes and sequence of steps for goods production.
- Collaborate with various departments in LTA to establish and continuously improve, driving efficiency and accuracy throughout the organization.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with Ground Crew during flight operations.
- Support the Installation and rework of Secondary Systems on the Flight Vehicle(s).
- Support off-ship activities and hangar operations.
- Communicate Effectively with Peers Across the Organization.
- Support off-ship activities and hangar operations, including driving between sites or suppliers.
Qualifications- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and spreadsheets.
Physical Requirements- Must be capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions year-round
- Must pass a drug test clearance where applicable
- Capable of conducting periodic walk-around inspections and checks of the airship

$28 - $30 an hour
The base salary range for this role is $28-30/hr, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
