Floating Teacher - Paid Winter Break

We are hiring a Floating Teacher to support in our Middleton school on Maple Street. This role provides support to classrooms within the Infant and Toddler wings. This position is an integral part of our staff, helping our program run smoothly while providing top-notch child care and collaborating with likeminded teachers. This role requires a creative, positive, and engaging team player who is flexible and eager to jump in to support.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:
  • EEC Teacher Certification (Infant/Toddler certification required), CDA, or equivalent degree and experience
  • Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting
  • An engaging and energetic demeanor and a love for helping young children meet and exceed their developmental goals


Some requirements of the role include:
  • Availability to work full time 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, or 11:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
  • Attentiveness, strong time management, and a team-focused mindset


As a Floating Teacher, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing substitute coverage when Teachers are either out sick, completing planning time, in need of a bathroom break, lunch break, or any other coverage throughout the day.
  • Assisting Classroom Teachers with the routine opening/closing of the classroom, including but not limited to wiping down the toys, cleaning the tables, vacuuming the room, sanitizing the room (after all children have left), and overall preparation of the classroom for the next morning.
  • Providing classroom assistance to support teachers as needed throughout the day, including but not limited to preparing materials for classroom lesson plans, engaging with students in free play, assisting with daily projects, supervising/zoning during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and lunch time assistance (heating up lunches, cutting up food, helping open containers, supervision), naptime assistance, etc.
  • Adhering to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the school throughout the day including, but not limited to, cleaning staff kitchen areas, lobbies, staff and classroom bathrooms, using the zono-machine (if applicable to your school), emptying trash and disposing in dumpster, assist with laundry and organizing/putting away nap mats.
  • Encouraging children's participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities.
  • Maintaining EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings.
  • Creating a fun and safe learning environment.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.
